Thank you Duncan - great pics and link. Don't need them now, but if I live long enough, I'll go to Tom Lange here in Maine.

Re: Originality versus sensible upgrades?
I installed a c.1960 (NOS) Ampco top end oiler that the late Dave Raymond (#96 NE MG T Register) gave me. He swore by "Mystery Oil" and had oilers on all his TC's. I also used up the silicone "Roadster Gaskets" that I had ordered five years ago and never got around to installing. Both products are s...

"well, it is getting very academic now". OK then, Dirk, tell us about your nifty luggage rack that doesn't obstruct rear vision.
btw, I was in Villars last year thanking God I was in an AWD rather than 7794 (w/alfins)! You're nuts!

Re: How does radiator drain valve work?
Jeff - Looks a bit tattered. I got some good advice on this forum when I inquired about my radiator flange leak. Pull it, get it cleaned and repaired at a good radiator shop and re-install it with new rubber washers on the bottom and new hoses. Never have to worry about it again. http://www.mg-tabc....

Re: Recomended lubricants
Highly recommend Valvoline VR-1 20w50 motor oil. High ZDDP content and readily available I think many of us follow Gene's recommendation. In addition, I run Red Line 75W 140NS in the gearbox and Red Line 80W 140 in the diff. (both synthetic). Previous owner did the same. This year I've tried out Mo...

Re: Celebrity TC
I erred in my airport designation. I meant to use SFO. So 2 1/2 hours to cross the bridge to Oakland wouldn't even challenge a snail! Gridlock at 2 PM.
Yes, we were on the PCH going back to LA. Beautiful, like your pics show. It must be a gas being part of a TC parade!

Re: Celebrity TC
Steve, my intro to San Francisco was a 2 1/2 hour drive from LAX to our Air BnB in Oakland. Freeway lane use was "creative" with no known rules except watch out for that motorcyclist speeding like a bat out of hell between lanes. Really, I've driven in Manhattan and Rome and never seen anything as s...

Just back from a 2 week trip to CA for my son's wedding in Berkeley and took the PCH back to his home in LA. Wonderful trip but the coldest summer and craziest drivers I've ever experienced! And I'm from Maine and suffer cold temps and MA drivers constantly! Anyway, a month ago the Mrs. and me enjoy...

The conclusion of the Citroen link that I sent was: "The solution is to use Propylene Glycol based coolant, and from March 19th 2012 we no longer have toxic ethylene glycol coolant in our workshop, we now use exclusively non-toxic, environmentally friendly, long lasting, pre-mixed Propylene Glycol c...

Thanks for the info, RM. Not sure I'm convinced since Dow makes Prestone, maker of ethylene glycol antifreeze. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Carbide I could cite other old car sources, but I suggest you do your own investigation. I would urge those who use "5 year", "long life" products "OAT" ...

Re: antifreeze
Peak Sierra is only $12.99 at Ace Hardware, so price is not relevant. We're empty nesters and I can't get my wife's cats to drink the old antifreeze, so toxicity is not an issue. I came across this regarding propylene glycol: https://citroenclassics.wordpress.com/2012/03/17/what-is-the-right-coolant...

Re: Advice to new TC owner
Welcome Jelly I've had nothing but fantastic customer service from FTFU. Moss has a catalog that is easier to use, but you can cross reference the numbers to FTFU. Considering the Caymans' import duties, I hope you don't need a lot! Any idea of the number of TABC's on the islands? Bob Brennan S. Fre...

Re: radiator hose
I pulled the radiator last month. It was an opportunity to replace not only the hoses, but also the rubber cushions under the radiator. The old ones - perhaps originals - were jello. The easiest way to remove hoses is by razor knife and vise-grips. I used a little silicone spray on the inside of the...
