Re: MPJG Main Bearings
Phil, After several days of head scratching, I came to the same conclusion. The existing main bearing shells are quite thick and an expert friend said that they can easily be remetaled. So when we have the rods done, we'll bring the bearing shells along to get them done at the same time. As a dyed-i...

Re: MPJG Main Bearings
Oh, and the MG TA Parts list includes the bearings and lists them at MG Part Numbers MG706/85 for the 1st and 3rd bearings and MG706/86 for the middle bearing. So clearly they were separate parts and not cast babbit in the block.

Re: MPJG Main Bearings
The engine is clearly an MPJG engine and the mains are clearly shell bearings, although the rods are most definitely cast babbit. There are no numbers on the center main bearing, but the 1st and 3rd bearings are marked: 22284 MOWOG G25FH and 22284 MOWOG G26FH one being the top bearing half and the o...

MPJG Main Bearings
Does any one have a source for main bearings for the MG TA? I always thought all bearings on the TA, con rod and main, were babbit, but this engine clearly has shell bearings for the crankshaft. They are even marked with MOWOG part numbers. None of my usual sources list them.

Re: MG TA Water Pump Help
Thanks, Ed. Yes, I have several split pullers, but I am not sure I even have enough room to get the knife edge of the puller between the impeller and the housing. It may be that the only solution is to cut the impeller and maybe even sacrifice the shaft. At least those parts are available.

MG TA Water Pump Help
I am restoring an MPJG engine for a fellow club member and have encountered a problem with the water pump. Someone made quite a mess of the pump including a missing bearing, a grease shield made from a bear can, and a missing pin from the impellor. However, the question is how to remove the impeller...

LED Tail Lamps
As many may know, I took over the manufacture of ST51 D-Lamp LED inserts for the TB, TC and Y-type from Terry Sanders. Since that time, we are now into the third major revision increasing the brightness and mechanical stability. These are offered a US $ 99 per pair plus shipping. We also manufacture...
