Re: tc bellhousing Id
Early 7-1/4" TC bell housing is same as TC EXCEPT for the spigot that locates the B/H to the gearbox case is smaller in diameter. The spigot is smaller on the TD to match the smaller TD Inch size ball bearing. The first motion shaft opening is also smaller. Morris 10 B/H is same as early TD. Bob Gru...

Re: Popping out of second gear
Loose flange nut will cause the problem. Shim in front of the rear bearing 0.040" to move everything and the gear forward. Make sure shift forks have only about 0.004" free travel in the slot. Cluster end float should be 0.004" to 0.006", I do have some thicker washers to install on your thrusts. Sl...

TC spare wheel carrier lower clamp
Several people have asked about availability for the forward half of the clamp that holds the TA/TB/TC spare wheel bracket to the center of the round chassis cross tube. I'll call this the TC rear carrier clamp. I can get this half clamp made , but we need to find at least 10 people interested. So s...

Re: TC Radiator hose leaks
Make sure you remove ALL the core plugs and clean the gunk out. OK, maybe leave the one at rear of the block. Core plugs are 35 and 48 mm diameter, as others have said, do NOT use 1-7/8" core plugs, they will not expand enough. Bob, CANADA

Another alternative is to install a 4.625 ( 8/37 ) gear set in the rear end, direct bolt in . No need for a 5 speed and keeps the TA/TC more original. I have several new sets for sale at $750.00 US$ + mail cost.

Re: TC pinion housing setup
Obviously the pinion should not move axially 1/8". Lucky you did not screw up the gears. Front double row ball bearing is SKF3305, or equivalent. Rear parallel roller is SKF305 as I recall. BUT, way better bearings if you use tapered roller bearings on the pinion, front and back. Possibly previous r...

Re: Hi-Torque Starter Motor
Gene, couple comments: 1-why do you need a high torque starter motor? Original TD or TC starters work fine, even on a high compression engine race car. 2-Original starter pulls pinion forward to mate with beveled teeth on rear of ringgear. Your high torque starter looks like it it pushes backwards s...

Re: Chassis number for 1949 MG TC

Is there an easy way of finding chassis number from engine numbers? Or is it hit and miss by logging in chassis number till you find the engine number?? I se...

Re: Chassis number for 1949 MG TC
It is quite common to have TCs registered in the USA under engine numbers. HOWEVER, you can't guarantee the engine and its number is original to the car. Many engines have been changed over the years, so I think you need to look closer for the correct chassis number on the outside of the left front ...
