Are you sure you you are not using or trying "modern" coils that require a resistor?
Hope this helps.

Re: Sudden electrical failure
I hope you nail it Johnny. Might be worth looking at the back of the regulator. There some flat and I seem to remember soldered connectors that may be fractured.
A matter of persistence these electrical issues. I bet its something silly in the end....keep us posted.
Best wishes

Re: Sudden electrical failure
Johnny grab yourself a test light (essential equipment with a TC) and see if you are getting power to the ammeter. There is a "heavy" wire from the battery to the ammeter which may be compromised. The starter motor is wired direct to the battery and as it is working suggests that the battery is OK w...

TABC Spider Gears
Has anybody ever heard of the spider gears breaking in a standard TABC diff. The reason I ask is that a friend had the spider gears break on a Morris Minor Diff fitted to his TC a few days ago. I have never heard of it happening to TC spider gears in my 60 odd years of owning TCs in Australia, 2268 ...

Re: Fuel pump not delivering
Mark are you sure you have the correct pump assuming you have an SU. I think a TF pump for example is designed to "push" the fuel as its located at the rear whereas a TC/TD pump is designed to suck the fuel. Not sure what the physical differences are between the pumps. Just a thought presuming you h...

Re: Total loss of electrics 1948 TC
Have you checked that the power from the battery to the ammeter is OK and the ammeter isn't faulty i.e. the juice is not getting through. Remember everything goes through the ammeter.

Re: Coil polarity question..
Charles, for what its worth some years ago my TC2268 was running rough and upon inspection of the dizzy cap, I saw to my horror that the area around the carbon contact was seriously burnt away and I couldn't believe that the car ran at all. I think what happened, and I could be wrong, is that the kn...

Re: 5 Speed gearbox
Living is Australia I decided to fit a 5sp Ford 9 conversion after a lot of soul searching. Frankly I have no regrets. My TC is a fairly low milage car at 92,000 thousand. I think perhaps that the "old car feel" of some TC gearboxes may be due to age and mileage, because the newish Ford box in my ca...

Re: TC gas tank from Moss
Thank you again gentlemen for all your help and relevant comments. Carl, I am going with Steve Gilbert, your recomendation, and as I said, thumbs up all `round. Also Franz Tenbrock was very happy with his S.G, tank he tells me, and having seen pictures of his work, I think he's the way to go. John C...

Re: TC gas tank from Moss
Thank you Chris, Antijam,Carl and Steve.. I forgot to say I am in Australia and no one makes TC tanks here so it will have to come from the UK or US. Thing is I will have to buy it sight unseen. Chris I googled Mick and Darren, a good price and I think you are happy with their quality? Thanks Antija...

Re: 16 inch front wheels on a TC
G`day Antijam and Steve, The comment by you boys re TCs not being set up for radials makes sense. Nor sure about my mate, but I think the next set of tyres on 2268 will be cross plies. Not too keen about bending the axle! Thank you both for the advice.

16 inch front wheels on a TC
Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the "toe in" with 16s should be the same as 19s. A friend`s TC with 16s actually had toe out(since rectified) and the outside of the tyres were scrubbing, I would have thought the inside edge would scrub out under those circumstances. The car is fitted with r...

Re: Mounting TC Front shocks on a TA
If you are using TC shocks on a TA, why not just change to TC spring plates then the TC links et all should line up. BTW TC shocks are easy to sort out with a through clean inside and modern seals inserted.

Hi Mark, Whats a PM ?? I don't want any money for it, happy to post it off, I think you may be in the US, am I right? Having said that if you have some spare bits for the slow running control that would be nice but not a problem if you don't.
Cheers John

I have one you can have Mark, but one half is a bit worn where the ball fits, the other half from a different car looks OK.

Re: TC sidescreens
I lost the driver`s side side curtain a couple of years ago, scrounged a frame locally, my son did a very good job of sewing up the fabric, and I made the "chrome" strips out of the stainless waist trim off a wrecked Peugeot 404. The right width but a bit flatter than the original but takes the TC f...
