Re: TC supercharger and brake servo.

I also have an eaton 45 on my TC with a vacuum gauge. The engine will generate vacuum much of the time only producing positive manifold pressure on wider throttle openings. However the vacuum may not be sufficent for assisted brakes to be effective and a vacuum tank will not help in these circumstan...

Re: Thinking of adding this to my stable

My old TA2841 had similar semaphore type indicators fitted when it arrived in Australia from the UK circa 1980. Clearly not factory installed but perhaps a popular fitment back in the day. The round shock absorbers, black hood and reserve fuel plumbing appear to be correct however my car also had th...

Re: Crankshaft White Metal Bearing to Shell Bearing Replacement

Mike Crankshaft Rebuilders in Melbourne converted my MPJG motor to shell bearings many years ago (early 1980s). No issues however Crankshaft Rebuilders are no longer in business.

My TA (2841) had the bronze trunions in two halves as others have stated. However the rear trunion was geased as part of the central lubrication system, perhaps yours has been changed?

Re: Rebuilding XPAG 9204

Very pleased to have stumbled upon this post as l was in the process of reassembling the front of the engine for the second time chasing an oil leak. Having replaced all the gaskets and seals on the front of the motor l found that l still had a slow leak behind the generator with the engine running....

Re: Sump removal in the car

Thanks Ray, l have just been down this road taking the opportunity whilst in isolation to remove the engine and address its various oil leaks. Of course l replaced every seal except the one behind the bearer plate as it had no apparent leak. When reinstalled the engine was oil tight except l could s...

Job done! A more determined approach involving tapping progressively larger flat blade screw drivers between sump and block split the joint without damaging anything.

Sump removal in the car

I am in the process of replacing the gasket behind the engine mounting plate on my TC. I have the timing cover off but have hit something of a brick wall in removing the sump. All the bolts are out including those through the bellhousing however the sump is resisting gentle persuasion. Any suggestio...

Re: My car is too quiet!

The reproduction stainless steel muffler on my TC is also too quiet. The muffler is of a straight through design and it has occurred to me that by sliding a pipe right through the muffler the sound would become completely unmuffled. By drilling holes in the inserted pipe or similar means (angle grin...

Re: MG TA Torque settings for replacing the head

I have had a TA and removed and replaced the head several times using reference to Philip H Smiths tome, Tuning and Maintenance of M.G.s published 1952. His recommendation verbatim "Use the standard ring spanner having a length of about six inches, and apply plenty of force" Perhaps not very useful,...
