On my late 1939 TA the holes in the front valance are central on the curve and there are thick hard rubber spacers of about 3/4 inch diameter that provides the half round to match the valance curve and the flat surface for the number plate board. Hi Thanks to everyone that replied. Tom's assurance that only one spring type was used was useful and I can eliminate incorrect springs as the cause. I think I have found the solution to my problem. My TA is fitted with an XPAG engine with what appears to be a fairly standard TC carb set up but the choke control is much too stiff.
