TC Handbrake Assembly Installation

Hi All, Restoration of TC0894 is making progress and I’ve just completed the restoration of the handbrake cross shaft assembly. This query relates to the handbrake assembly installation, which I assumed would be plain sailing? For information my early numbered chassis was straightened and repaired b...

Re: TC Handbrake Cross Shaft

Hi, I have now almost completed the restoration of my handbrake cross shaft. I have new bronze spherical bearings to fit into the original end brackets which will give me good as new spherical bearing assemblies once finished. Before final assembly I have a question. Obviously the spherical bearings...

TC Handbrake Cross Shaft

Hi,
On an unworn cross shaft does someone know what the end diameters should be to
be a correct fit in the chassis bracket bearings?
I am sure my shaft is not worn but the bearings are but would like confirmation
before I purchase new bearings.

Best regards,

Steve

Re: Gaskets for TC shock top covers

Hi All,
I got in touch with Peter Caldwell about these as well and his response is below:

'We use RTV silicone for that gasket if the old one is no longer
useable. Usually they are.'

Hope that is of interest to the group.

Re: TC Differential CWP setup

Hi Steve, Thanks for the reply. I can see where you are coming from regarding excess pre-load which was my concern. I've also given this further thought and reckon if one side lines up spot on and the other does not, then backing the good one off one serration and moving the other on a bit further t...

TC Differential CWP setup

Hi All, I’m in the final stage of setting up my newly rebuilt TC differential and my questions relate to CWP backlash set-up procedure. Q1: When adjusting the differential carrier bearing adjuster nuts to just pinch the bearing inner tracks and take up all the slack in the bearings (prior to setting...

Handbrake Cross Shaft on TC

Hi All, Does someone know whether the fittings on the cross tube are secured with taper pins or rivets and what diameter are they? The collar by the ratchet mount on T0894 has a fixing which is flush with the collar outer diameter but it has what appears to be a screwdriver slot in it although heati...

Re: Fitting rear axle

Hi Mark, I recently got to this stage with TC0894 which is undergoing a ground up rebuild. With new rear springs, the axle casing located onto the top spring mounting plates and bolted up fine. This has left a gap of around 3mm between the lower axle casing seam and the chassis. I have not got the r...
