Re: Scuttle and Tool / Battery Box Details

I thought this was all covered and corrected before!! The TA, TB and TC firewalls and scuttle tops are all the same width. The rear of the body at the rear door hinges was where the additional four inches was added to the TC over the TB, not in the firewall. Or am I missing something??.

Re: Side curtain Compartment

The wood body frame piece is approx 1 1/4", almost square, and the rear plywood of the body tub screws to it. I believe the wood sides of the curtain box are also screwed to this wood. The two bolts you see are the rear body mounting to chassis bolts that pass through the 1 1/4" wood piece. Thats wh...

Re: shorter pushrods???

Hi Bob, shorter pushrods are available from Crane Cams in Florida. I had to use these pushrods on my race XPEG engined TC as the large cam lobes required them. Crane should be able to give you the exact length. Alternatively you can draw the end off your pushrods and shorten the tube. Then re-instal...

Re: Front Spindles and Bearing Spacers

Hi Viv and Roger etc, Yes, Abingdon Spares have the stub axles, supplied by me. The steel is American/Canadian spec ASTM 4140, HT and SR. This is a very strong, ductile material and very suitable for stub axles. Yield stress is 129,433 psi, Tensile stress is 142,719 psi, elongation is 18.1% , reduct...

Re: Front Spindles and Bearing Spacers

I disagree. The stub axle does not know if ball or roller bearings are being used. The critical difference is that previous information was to leave out the bearing spacer and install the stub axle nut loose when using tapered roller bearings. This resulted in a smaller effective diameter stub axle ...

Re: 4.6/1 crown and pinion

Yes, Roger has 4.625 ( 8/37 ) gear ratios and they are direct replacement for the TC gears in the TC carrier.
I have installed one set with no trouble but have yet to run the car. I think the 1999 cost was 275.00 GBP plus shipping.

Re: Front Spindles and Bearing Spacers

Peter, John and Others, The question of use of the bearing spacer has been answered MANY times. Original information 35 years ago said to delete the spacer with tapered rollers. This information was WRONG. Please ALWAYS use the bearing spacer, suitably shimmed with shims if using tapered roller bear...

Re: Cycle fenders

Hi Manley. I have four front cycle fenders which were intended for a TC but the supplier screwed up ( or the owner? not me ) and so the fenders were supplied with a 19" diameter curvature ( not to suit a 19" wheel with clearance).. Consequently, the fenders are no use to a TC but should be OK for a ...

TB/TC Gearbox Rear Aluminum Plate re-inforcing drawing.

The subject drawing is reproduced on email and I hope it is useful to readers. It does work well. Saves me time if I send it to all T-ABC members Also sending a copy to John James, Editor OCC Bulletin, in case this information needs to be re-published 30 years after initial publication. Re: SU Pump Puzzle

Hi Skip, you may have a partially plugged tank suction filter or line and/or plugged fuel filters in the pump or carbs. Also check the gas cap is venting. Any of these conditions will allow the pump to operate for a time then stop as the suction becomes too high for the pump to operate against. Stan...

General Arrangement of Body Drawing, MG 10 HP, Two Seater, Series T

I have managed to get an email version of the subject drawing on my computer. The drawing is a bit vertically challenged ( ie squashed ) but the dimensions can be read if you enlarge a specific one. The download time is long, so I am not going to send it to all T-ABC members ( remember the carping a...

Re: MG Magazine Holiday Special --- Save up to 50% now

Hi All, Well I agree in principle on the "commercial activity". However, where do we draw the line?? I would like to advertise my limited special parts for TA, TB and TC cars on the T-ABCs Forever and MGs Autox email list. For example, oil filter spin-on adapters, for TC/early TD, stub axles, Alfin ...
