Rear main shaft bearing - Timkin number?

Hi All, yes I do have a TC but I am also restoring a '51 TD I scooped for a "stupid good deal" I hope you can help me out with. When I look at the MOSS numbers for the TC and TD the bearing numbers are not the same, but I thought... (?) that the gear box's for the TC's and TD's were the same. Either...

Re: Pertronix - motor will not stop running when key tunred

No wonder your a bit confused, I goofed a bit, sorry The "+" from the coil goes to earth The "-" from the coil goes to the pertronix (black and white wire) The black wire from the pertronix is spliced on to a white wire that in turn goes to the fuse block. This is the wire I cut to put on the 9V (is...

Re: Pertronix - motor will not stop running when key tunred

Good points, I'll keep both in mind. When I use the 9V battery I disconnect the main battery. This way I can isolate individual wires with a power source. What I did was disconnected the power feed wire from the ign switch, to the coil and hooked up the wire from the coil to the + of the 9V battery ...

Re: Pertronix - motor will not stop running when key tunred

I found the reason the motor did not shut down. I took a 9V battery and connected it to the wire from the ign switch (that feeds the pertronix directly as wiring for a positive ground Pertronix is not normal) and the other end of the battery via a test light to ground, and the test light lit dimly.....

Pertronix - motor will not stop running when key tunred off

I read the instructions from both the box, and here http://www.ttalk.info/Tech/PerPosGndWiring.htm on how to wire up the Pertronix kit for a positive ground car, okay no problem. How ever, as I said in the subject line when I turn the key off the motor keeps running! I'm guessing some sort of feed b...

Using Pertronics in the TC

I am mulling over switching over to the Pertronics system for my TC. I found a part number for a Positive ground TC, but not for a Negative ground (I switched over). Does it matter?

Does anyone happen to know if there is a Pertronics made for a Negative ground TC using the D2A dizzy?
Thanks, Pat

Poor (at best) braking on my TC - advice requested

I did a full restoration of my '48 TC about two years ago, the brakes have never been even close to what I think they should be taking in to account they are not the best to start with, I understand that. When I push on the brake peddle with all my might I "slow down" and come to a stop eventually, ...

Re: TA fuel Tank outlet

Huh? In the TA there is a reserve, is there on the TC (that I am restoring)? I only have one fuel line to the carbs.

I have two holes on the bottom of the tank. One I assume is a plug and one for the filter/feed line. Does it matter what hole is used for each?
Thanks, pat

Looking for a TA owner who could help me off line please.

I was wondering if there is a TA owner out there who would be able to shoot me some pictures of a few specific areas of their car to guide me on what is stock and what a DPO did to the one I am working on.

Thanks, Pat

How to seperate trans from block on a TA

A friend of mine is working on his TA, he has separated the trans from the block by only an inch or so, something is stopping it from coming fully apart. He thinks it is the clutch arm but but not sure enough to pound on it. Any suggestions/help I can pass along to him? Anyone know of some good TA w...

TC Fender piping/welting colours (or not)

TC's Forever made it very clear the piping between tub and fenders is to be the colour of the car, not the colour of the interior (contrast). I painted my car Clipper blue, and of course piping from FTFU does not come in this blue. I have some tan, to match my interior which is of course not correct...
