Timing and Engine Data

In the latest issue of the OCC Bulletin, Bjarne Bergengren of Helsingborg, Sweden suggest the need to advance the timing to 5 or even 10 degrees before TDC when using modern fuel. As I am running 92 octane in my TB, I'm considering advancing the timing. What are the advantages? What, if any, is the ...

Finale on the Unk. Horn

Ray McCary's humorous, but prophetic horn story plus the interest shown in the unknown klaxon prompts me to leave readers with one last anecdote. Day before yesterday, an old friend and former WWII submariner dropped by to see the car. He saw the horn and asked to hear it. I rigged it up and gave it...

More on Unk. Horn

In answer to questions, the horn definitly 12 volts. I hooked it up to my battery and it made one hell of a racket. Geoff Wheatley gave the correct definition: a klaxon. It makes a very loud, beautiful sound probably like the Fire Station klaxon that Terry described. I'm thinking of mounting it some...

Pre-War Horn Acorn bolts

Do any of our UK friends know where I can obtain the proper prewar chromed acorn-headed bolts for my TB's horn. The acorns on these bolts were sort of pointy at the ends.

Cheers, Skip (TB 0304)

Unknown Horn

Gentlemen: On return from the UK in the mid-70s, I brought back boxes of spares, including bits and pieces acquired while searching through the darkened aisles of old ironmonger shops and swap meets. I miss those visits to ironmongers who never seemed to have an inventory but could locate the odd bi...

SU Pump Puzzle

Apologies. It's not my intent to hog space, but I've got a problem. About a month ago, during a rallye, I experience fuel pump failure. I whacked it a couple of times, but it refused to work. After trailering the car back to my garage and letting it sit for several days, I discovered the pump was wo...

Re: Dual Master Cylinders on TA/TB

TA Terry may be correct when he states that dual Master Brake Cylinders were used on TA trials cars. However, responding to Ray McCary's question, I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that he was talking about a production car. Who wants to mimic a TA trials car with dual M/Cs? I'm sure trials cars had many ...

TA/TB Oilers

Regarding oilers, I recently rebuilt the entire oiler system on my TB. The bracket that holds the oiler nipples is welded to the leading edge of the firewall; i.e., there are no wood screws. For the life of me, I can't imagine what wood (there is none)the screws would go into. The top weld is about ...

Re: Dual Master Cylinders on TA/TB

For Ray McCrary: Ray, I don't know where you heard the TA/TB had dual M/C's; in fact, the TA/TB has a single M/C just like the TC/TD and TF. Love to know who told you that bit of rubbish.
