Apparently I have a limit of 5 pictures per post.
Note the pile of TA firewalls behind this tire guy.

Re: How many bolts on the rear fenders
Tom & Steve, thanks so much for your responses. There were niches in the wood above the fenders on both sides corresponding to the caged nuts, which leads me to believe that the caged nuts are original. Re: How many bolts on the rear fenders
That's interesting, as I assumed they all would have them. This is what I mean by a caged or captive nut, in case anyone is not familiar with the term. 20250323_120353a.jpg I have 4 on each inner fender. 20250323_120404a.jpg My confusion arises due to the fact that there are about 20 holes in each o...

Re: How many bolts on the rear fenders
Thanks Tom.
Apparently TA is different. I have four 1/4 BSF caged nuts spaced at 10.5" plus the 1/4" bolt and nut at the bottom of the rear side.

Re: TA Firewall to Timber Screws
Well, I think I can answer my own question. I found my old screws at the bottom of a box of junk parts, and they are 5/16-22 BSF x 2-3/4" long with hex nuts, flat washers and a lock washer, and only 18 of them. Two of them on the right side hold the steering column support. IMG_20210205_135958794.jp...

Here are my '37 TA tach and speedo faces.
Before and after, done by West Valley. There is a slight green tint, which they said was correct. It matches my oil pressure and ammeter gauges.

TA Firewall to Timber Screws
I somehow failed to note what screws were holding my firewall (scuttle) to the timber wood. I see hex heads in my pictures. Is that correct? Can anyone advise the size, length and type screw? There are 20 oval holes for them in my firewall. Some are pretty close together, as if there was some other ...

Brass Body SU Fuel Pump - date code?
A question has come up on an early Jaguar forum I'm on. The aluminum body fuel pumps have a date code stamped on them. A letter for the year and a numeral for the month. I have two stamped G12 and N1 which means Dec 1951 and Jan 1956. Letters I and J and O were not used. What about the brass body pu...

Re: Paint for Diff Cover
Glad we got that misinterpretation cleared up. I was thinking Salisbury axles. Should have known the T does not have a rear cover on the diff. I have not yet reached the point of sealing my wood. My rear axle cover parts came with two holes and tee-nut threaded inserts, 6mm x 1.0 thread, so I assume...

I painted all chassis parts Rustoleum Gloss Black. After a few years it fades to looking a little dull, like every truck chassis you've ever seen.

Re: TC Driveshaft Length
Always remember that as with every driveshaft, that the yokes at each end must be parallel, i.e. in the same rotational orientation.

Re: Parts swap wood between MGTB and MGTC
I am rebuilding a TA with the B270 body know as "late narrow" which I believe is the same as for TB. I was sent some TC parts by mistake, and found the rocker rails (arched timbers just below the doors) were not right, wrong shape for TA/TB. I sent them back and got the right ones TA007/008 or BT107...

Re: Clutch Mystery
Definitely from the pressure plate.
The two single coils are a broken and mangled example of the one with double coils. Less likely to be from the clutch friction disc.

Re: TA Jaeger Speedometer cable
Ok that makes sense. Sounds like a fun job connecting that cable under the dash.
Any idea of the length I should ask for? The fitting on the MGA trans is on the right and points at a forward angle of about 45 degrees and slightly downward.

Here is a close up picture. The outer diameter is .431"
I found the Speedograph website but they don't say anything about the TA.
I don't quite understand how you would tighten a screw on the inside cable if the outer sleeve is in the way.I found the Speedograph website but they don't say anything about the TA.

Re: TA Jaeger Speedometer cable
Thanks for the responses. I found a couple of pictures on Doug's site. The brass fitting is described as what the TA through TF gearboxes would have had. speedo drive.jpg speedo drive shaft.jpg Does anyone know what thread that brass fitting has? The shaft appears to have a slot in the end. Is that ...
