Re: TA Jaeger Speedometer cable

Steve is correct. My TC has a TA speedo fitted, so I’m familiar with this fitting the outer is just a tube that slides over the shank on the speedo and is held in place with a simple clamp. The inner is also a tube that slides over the drive spigot and held in place with a small screw that fits the ...

TC2190 has exactly the same mirror fitted, but the mounting plate is screwed to the top of the scuttle panel horizontally.

Re: GPS Speedo & Tach Info

Hi Lou, TC2190 has a TA Diff fitted, so the speedo was inaccurate. Speedograph Richfield in the UK built me a converter gearbox and cable which corrected the error. Because it’s all built to order the cable can have any type of end fitting you like, so could have a TC fitting at the speedo end and L...

Re: Toolbox and side screen felt

Tim, l bought mine to do exactly the same jobs from www.britishfelt.com. Industrial wool felt to what I believe was the original spec. The white version isn’t dyed white, but rather the natural wool colour. I used 3mm for the toolbox and it looks ‘right’.

Bonnet catch adjustment

Hi all,
One of the bonnet catch handles on TC2190 does not sit at the correct angle relative to the fender line when it is locked. The catches look to be original, so I guess are well worn, but there is no obvious way of adjusting them. Anybody have any suggestions to correct the line they sit at?

Re: Clock Setting Knob

Whilst mine is a TC, rather than a TA, I can confirm that the resetting knobs on both appear to be the same and they are springs with a brass knob on the end. I cannot be sure how the spring connects to the threaded fitting because on both resetters the spring part is covered by what I would describ...

I too rebuilt mine with the Viton kits from Danbury Hydraulics which seem to work perfectly and cured the constant weep from the jet, that luckily fell on to the steering column rather than the exhaust….

Bakelite rocker cover nut size

Can anybody tell me the thread size/type for the Bakelite thumbscrews that hold the rocker cover on please? Mine are worn and I’d like to run a tap through them to smarten up the threads.

Many thanks

Altette horn

Hi all, the original (or at least very old) Altette horn fitted to 2190 has finally stopped working, except for the odd muffled peep. Rather than buy one of the cheap copies which are easily available I’d rather repair the original if possible, but not sure my electrical skills are up to the job. Do...

Good news, When I went to followup on on the suggestions I first tried the hand brake and it worked, repeatedly. That is the kind of "repair" I really like. Jim Yergin Jim, I had similar happen on TC2190. Turned out the bolts were loose on the pawl (item 24 on Duncan’s parts list) and that meant th...

Re: Heat soak/Vapour lock - advice please

Just to close this out, I fitted a new coil today. Problem solved.

I’m frustrated that because the symptoms were those of heat soak, I just assumed that was where the issue lay and chased the wrong problem….

The Q12 I took off was dated April ‘48, so I guess nobody could say it hadn’t performed!
