Re: TC Overheat

Hi Duncan. It's odd that nothing was a warning sign ahead of this, and the timing was odd as well. Park/Cut Power/restart/steam. I haven't crawled underneath, but it seems that coolant loss was minimal from what I see up above. One 3-inch puddle on the floor. The coolant level is lower once i remove...

TC Overheat

Drove the TC for about an hour, No issues. Pulled into the garage, shut the key and it turned over again - very quickly. Then, steam from the front. Gauge read approx. 75c. Letting things cool down at the moment, but wondering if it's safe to back it out to get underneath, and then put her away agai...

Re: TC Steering Wheel Swap

Amazing what you can accomplish in under an hour - with lots of elbow grease and lots of lapping paste. I realized about 45 minutes in that if I take the old steering wheel and lapped that up and went at it, things moved MUCH faster. Was then done in 2 minutes
Thanks, all!.

Re: TC Steering Wheel Swap

Would I be okay to use the existing shaft and lapping paste and have at it back and forth or would I risk damaging the shaft? I found 220 grit available nearby, is that sufficient or coarser grit?

TC Steering Wheel Swap

Trying to swap my Moto Lita wheel with a spoked Brooklands I picked up from Abingdon Spares. (Beautiful wheel). I was able to easily pull the Moto, it came right off, but when trying to install the Brooklands, I can only seem to get it on a little more than an inch. It feels like it's bottoming, but...

TCs. Fans of all (most) ages.

Interesting observation I’d like to share. I’ve a 47 TC that I took on after my dad passed. I took the car to a community show today and here’s what I noticed. Older folk - 60-plus, go nuts for the car. Nuts! But teens, twents and thirty somethings? Meh… I get a “nice car” from them, but that’s abou...

Re: Seeking Hood Ornament

Thank you, that's very helpful. I was searching for 'hood ornament'. 'Mascots' certainly show greater results.

Hi All.
Trying to locate the creator of this ornament. Googling only brings up the stock image. Any leads?

Re: Low Oil Pressure

I don't recall the pressure moving up when driving. The hard lines to and from the filter are still there. A flex line was installed out of the engine to the bulkhead/gauge piping line when the spin-on was installed. I checked that line for blockage and the stream into a paper cup was there and got ...

Re: Low Oil Pressure

Not entirely sure. I noticed it reading 10lbs after I became the owner. I never saw it above that. There is a recent video by a previous owner that shows it at 45lbs. This is only about less than 400 miles ago. Odometer reads 3444. In terms of noise, it's not overly clanky, sounds like other Ts that...

Low Oil Pressure

Hi, So my 47TC is reading oil pressure of only 10 pounds. Things I've done: replaced gauge - nothing cleaned pipe to gauge - nothing checked spin-on adapter for incorrect drilling: Appears to be correct, in that I cannot pass pencil through per suggestion on another forum Next suggestion is to shim ...

Hi, New Guy Here

Hi All. I'm the proud owner of my dad's 1947 MG, TC4040. I've been lucky enough to discover I live about 2 miles away from Len Fanelli of New England MGT Register. So I'm extremely grateful for his knowledge and to be guided to such wonderful resources here and on other sites. So... I have a lot to ...
