Re: Need Lucas RF91 Voltage Regulator withdate prior to May
According to Mike Sherril the internals from the later type can by tans planted into the early type so it should be relatively easy to make a 6v into a 12v unit

Re: TC Tub build-up
The metal piece rivets to the wheel arch as does the bulls horn cross brace. I put a flat washer over the rivet stems before they were flattened over, I think that is how they should be done. Also the wheel arches should have a very roughly punched countersunk hole for the attaching screws. Do the w...

Re: TC Tub build-up
Congratulations on your TC. I have just gone through a long saga in rebuilding the tub on my TC after a few false starts including buying a new tub from a well known British supplier that proved to be unusable. The wheel arch to body iron bolts are 1/4" BSW countersunk slotted head screws x 3/4" lon...

You're not crazy. The headlight glasses can turn a mauve colour after long exposure to sunlight.

Re: Where are you from and what do you do?
Hi, I live in Sunbury, a small town to the north of Melbourne Australia. I stopped working (as a project engineering manager) nearly three years ago due to ill health of my wife. I keep busy playing in the garage with TC 9375. I also enjoy another hobby which is bronze sculpture. You can check it ou...

Re: How to cure slop in door hinges?
With the hinge pins tight check that the door skin is not fouling the fixed hinge piece on the body as the door closes. When the pin nuts are tight the door will move down and this can happen.
If the door won't close it must be fouling somewhere.

Re: MG TC Center of Gravity
Jim, I don't know if it the front axle versus rear axle weight percentage is written down anywhere but if you were to find that out then it would be relatively simple to calculate the centre of gravity. It would then be a case of knowing the weight of the car and the wheelbase and doing a simple cal...

Re: Unable to find 8.0 x 1.0 bolts for motor stand-HELP pls
You may be able to use spare studs from an XPAG motor. Screw them into the engine and then put nuts on the other end. Another approach would be to get longer bolts than needed with a different thread but enough plain shank. Cut off the existing thread and cut a new thread using an M8 x 1.0 die (if y...

Re: Volkswagon steering box conversion
Rick, I contacted Bud and he has offered his help.
I intend to get my car on the road with bishop cam in place but I would like to have the option of the change. I had old Morrises with the BC box and at 50 mph they were all over the road, nothing was in top condition though.

Re: Volkswagon steering box conversion
From everything I am told the conversion is a dramatic improvement from the original correctly rebuilt original. It can be removed and the car put back to original very easily so in the interest of safety with no risk of a pitman arm failure why not do it.

Volkswagon steering box conversion
I have made a couple of conversions of Datsun steering boxes for TC's but the boxes are now very hard to come by. Does anyone have all the details of VW steering box conversions? I would like to see if I can make them if possible but don't know the exact details.

Re: TC BELL HOUSING'S
Jim, I think I would try to get the TD bell housing modified to suit the TC. Your original TC unit is in pretty poor shape. The mounting flange has been removed across the top and there is an extra cut out in the flange as well, so you have lost a couple of bolt holes. I was lucky with mine as I wor...

Re: TC BELL HOUSING'S
The red one is TC. It has a larger spigot diameter on the front mounting face to allow the larger TC input bearing to locate. The clutch actuating lever on the outside of the bell housing in not correct. It should have an arm at the top that carries a stop bolt. The olive green one is probably early...

Re: TC DASHBOARD COLOUR
I do not think book matched veneer is correct. According to Mike Sherril's "TC's Forever" page 227 the dash was straight grain honey walnut. He does not detail the finish but a couple of coats of clear satin finish is probably correct. Book matched burr walnut certainly looks nice though.

TC generator front plate
Can the front plate on a TC generator be successfully welded? The mounting hole on mine is very worn so needs to be repaired. I am not sure if the plate is steel or cast iron. If it is cast I will have to braze it up.

I am looking for a couple of parts to complete my TC gearbox. I need the drive spindle at the rear of the gearbox for the speedo. Re: back to front stub axles
Hi Ian, The king-pins should be a snug fit in the axle. Another way to improve the fit is to shrink the eyes in the beam axle. A front end specialist should be able to do this for you. It is done be grinding a vertical groove and then welding the groove back up. The hole is then reamed back to stand...
