Re: Door latch and side screed latch fixing bolt thread size
Hi Steve, £3 for the pack of ten bolts (6x2" which need to be cut down to approx 1 3/4" for the door locks and 4x1 1/2" for the latch plates.) Yes car first on the road yesterday after 44 years and a 6 year rebuild! Photos on the Octagon Car Club Facebook page. Been today for pre MOT (safety check) ...

Re: Door latch and side screed latch fixing bolt thread size
Hi Steve, The bolts for the door lock and latch plate are 3/16 whit., not bsf. I have a pack of 4x1 1/2" and 6x 2" for the latch and lock. As they are an unusual size I ended up buying 100 of each. I think I have a couple of packs left after MG Live. Let me know if you want one. Re the side screen p...

Re: MG TC stage 1 Wood Frame Build
Hi Herman, From the Frame Up has a video showing side screen box and position of hinges. I have an original diff cover and can measure the position of screw holes for the 1 1/2" steel butt hinges. They are attached to the side screen box lid before it is covered with the material.

Re: Fitting wing piping to scuttle or dashboard
Thanks for info. Yes Richard thinking about it fitting to the scuttle makes better sense. Yes I've got Malcolm Greens book, it's the only one that really mentions the interior trim!

Fitting wing piping to scuttle or dashboard
Hi, almost completed interior trimming of TC1017 but puzzling if it's better to attach piping to dashboard or to scuttle? Any thoughts or experience. Also best way to end wing piping where the end is on show such as the top of the rear quarter where it butts up against the hood trim rail?
Thanks
Ian

Re: MG TC Stage 2 Wood Frame Build
No problem Steve. Yes it's very scary working in the garage in the moment given the excellent paint job on the tub. Christmas is rather getting in the way of further work at the moment but I'm off to the upholsterer tomorrow to get the inner wheel arch padding so may at least start the interior trim...

Re: MG TC Stage 2 Wood Frame Build
Hi Steve, I live near Birmingham Airport and have almost completed a 6 year rebuild! Unfortunately I am away until 20th November but the body tub is currently at the body shop for painting. If it would help I could ask if you could take measurements of the tub at the body shop, or wait until I'm hom...

Re: Half Shaft Fit
Hi Steve, Don't believe that is a problem in fact I'm sure you would do damage to the diff if you had to 'drive' the half shaft in. I've always assumed that the reason for interference fit of hub to half shaft was because if the huge turning force a 19" wheel imparts on the splines of the half shaft...

Re: TC Luvax Girling Damper Question
No Steve not that person. I worked in education in Warwickshire. Yes workshop is an eye opener. Thought my garage was untidy until I saw his workshop. Don't think a Health and Safety inspector has been near! Asked him if he ever though of getting the scrap man in but he said it was all usable stuff!...

Yes Raj is good. Collected a pair of rear dampers he'd restored last week. Both done for less than £200

Hi, I've used a company Classic and Chrome Ltd
Unit 8, Hinckley Business Park, Brindley Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 3BY, tel 01455 637921
They are v good and recommended by Steve Baker. They have repaired and chromed two radiator cowls for me.
They may be too far from you though.
Cheers

Re: Shock absorber problem
Dropped off Luvax dampers to Raj in Leicester today. Will take approx 3 weeks and cost £65 to rebuild each damper and £20 for each link bush. A total of £210 :) Checked when my last ones were done and it's almost 5 years and the car is still not finished. Time flies when you're enjoying yourself ! Ian

Re: Shock absorber problem
I can also recommend Raj. Rebuilt four Luvox dampers and replaced rubbers and pins for under £300 about two years ago. Taking two more Luvax dampers to him tomorrow. He rebuilds for Moss and NTG.

Re: MG bit - What is it?
Hi Marv, Don't know about availability or who made/ makes it nor how old it is. Just bought it from Germany but know it was on a TD It's not the same as the Moss one currently available which has two vents. I needed it as I'm fitting a magneto instead of the distributor and the breather outlet was i...

It is definitely the vent cover from the finned aluminum side cover on an XPAG engine. I've just bought one!

Re: TC Tub build-up
Hi Tim, I believe, although someone may correct me, that the gap between the bull horn and wheel arch is normal and allows room for the padding that goes under the wheel arch covering when you come to fit the interior upholstery and panels. But, as I said, I stand to be corrected but that is what I ...

Believe TC steering column is longer than a TA and the steering bracket on the TC chassis is in a different position to a TA. Think the bracket is different too.

Hi, I've got one I'm prepared to sell. Good condition, just needs a coat of paint. No handle for it though. One handle did sell for almost £200 some time ago on eBay! Live near Birmingham Airport/NEC. Cheers Ian
