Re: MG TA fuel line - tank - pump
G'Day Franz The TA fan is held on by 4 bolts however you have a xpjm engine in your car which is a smaller bore xpag. The fan should still be held on by 4 bolts. When you receive your mgb fan the 4 mounting holes will probably be for 8mm bolts. The bolts on theengine are only 6mm.You will have to cut 4...

Re: MG TA fuel line - tank - pump
Hi Franz Greeting from Australia Welcome to TA ownership once you get over these problems you will find that TA s are fun to drive. Re: MPJG Main Bearings
G'Day Lew You are correct that the MPJG main bearings are are "shell bearings" however the shells are 5.5 mm thick unlike conventional shells that are closer to 2.5 mm. The spare parts list only standard size and do not offer alternative sizes for crankshaft regrinds.MPJG parts are extremely hard to...

Re: TA Oil Pressure problem
Good morning Phil. Yes you should be able to turn engine over by rear wheels. If not you may have to drop it off stands and push car backwards. When I first tried this method to prime I just left the Vaseline in. Leave oil lines disconnected to see if you have success (oil in boots) I use an oil gun...

Re: TA Oil Pressure problem
Good evening Phil , I'm in Melbourne. I had a similar problem with priming.I tried the Vaseline trick without success. The method I used was to feed oil into the outlet side of the pump with the plugs out,put the car intop gear and push it backwards a few engine revolutions. This primes the pump ins...

Re: Clutch Cork
Hi Ian I have used both ways and believe that removing geabox from inside the car is the easiest. Remove seats and floorboards and transmission tunnel. Remove tailshaft place jack under sump wwith a piece of wood to spread the weight, remove rear engine mounts. The hardest bit of the whole job is re...

Re: Clutch Cork
G'day Ian In answer to your post .... drink plenty of red wine. But seriously I purchased a bag of corks from a do it yourself home wine bottling company. I then cut a short length of 1/2" tubing in half lengthways and used both halves clamped with multi grips to compress one cork at a time to fit i...
