Re: TC Front End Improvements-Handling

Fantastic as far as I'm concerned. Everything about the TC works better as you would expect when putting really good tyres on any car.
No problem at all with rear fender clearance.

Re: TC Front End Improvements-Handling

Purchasing new top front spring leafs from the UK that have had the front spring eye wrapped larger with a bushing installed to get rid of the excessive clearance is a nice noticeable improvement.

Re: TA Passenger Grab Handle

Attached is a picture of my TC panic handle which works really well as the passenger can grab it with both hands. I ripped this handle off a New Brunswick Telephone Co. phone booth back in the 50s. The next person in the booth would not have been able to get out as the handle was needed to open the ...

Re: TC tyres

I really, really like the Bridgestones. I've experienced a panic stop that would have required evasive action with the 4.50s, the wheels didn't lock and the tyres didn't skid and I nearly hit my nose on the windscreen. In the rain on the road, I'm no longer puckered waiting to catch the car when the...

Re: Poor (at best) braking on my TC - advice requested

I've gone through the hole routine of trying to improve the braking on my TC over the years including 2 LS. The best improvement I've come up with is to put good tyres on the car, in my case the the Bridgestone radials. In a panic stock you can hit your nose on the windscreen.

Re: carbon spark plug wires

I slid on the nut, attached a push on terminal and soldered a circular piece of shim stock to the push on terminal.

Re: TC tyres

When going to radial tubeless tires, there is an issue with using tubes in tubeless radial tires. Sidewall flexing, increased heat that leads to tube chaffing and flats. There is lots of info about this around. Personally, I have radials on my car to try in the short term. If I decide to keep them o...

Re: TC tyres

I've put a set of Bridgestones on my TC to see for myself. I can anticipate the huge improvement with modern tires over 75 year old design as I've gone through this learning curve with my 50s motorcycle, especially in the wet. Only 2 possible issues are on my radar. Tire wear( which I can't imagine ...

Re: slushing compound

A good quality paint remover should remove the old liner which is what I've done (Naturally watch the outside of the tank) Slosh it around in the tank for a day and then hose it out with water. Get it all out, clean with lacquer thinner and then recoat with a modern hard epoxy tank coating. Caswell ...

Re: TC Bucket Seats?

When I first bought my car in the 50s, the first thing I did was to install bucket seats from a 28 or 29 Austin 7 which are still in use today. These were a great improvement to the car as you now have more elbow room and you can easily reach behind the seats for things on the floor and shelf and we...

Re: TC MGA Twin Leading Shoe Conversion

David
I wrote an article for "Totally T Type 2" in April 2014 about converting the TC to Twin Leading Shoes. I imagine the MGA back plates are similar to the TD in which case you could not use them as the offset is opposite to the TC.
