Re: Carpet fixings.
I fitted a longer ‘male’ to the ones where the carpet doubles up. Made life easier.

Re: Old photos of T-series cars at used car shops
I remember visiting both Richardson’s at Staines and Moto Build in Hounslow in the late 70’s. The Richardson’s photo shows only a small selection of their huge stock, there were rooms full of cars. I bought an MGB from them which served me well for a while. I also tried to buy an MGA from motobuild ...

I also moved the fuel line between the float bowls to the outside of the air cleaner rather than sitting over a hot manifold, just swap the tops over.

Re: Coil polarity question..
Thanks, I apologise for being rather dense on this but Timberstone you say.. With a positive ground car, using a generic replacement coil, the positive (+) post of the coil should be wired to the CB post of the distributor. This is because most generic modern replacement coils are usually intended f...

Re: Coil polarity question..
Thanks Steve, here is a snip from the article.. The reason is that when the coil terminal marked “–“ is fed directly from the battery, via the ignition switch, the coil primary winding carries the full battery output to earth, through the contact breaker, with a higher current load the faster the ca...

Coil polarity question..
My TC coil seems to run hotter than normal. Reading an article on TTypes.. it says that modern replacement coils no longer marked CB and SW but + and - are really made for negative earth vehicles. So when fitting one to a positive earth car , like my TC, it is incorrect to connect the distributor wi...

Thank you. Now the battery is fully charged the reading has come down and just shows 2 or 3 amps and all seems well. Thanks again.

Re: Charging rate?
Thanks, I'll charge the battery up and see what the meter reads under 'normal' conditions. What sort of amps should I see running without lights etc? My old bikes seem to just waver into positive.

Charging rate?
Hello all, just fitted a new voltage regulator to my TC to fix a no charge problem. Seems to be working fine but wondered if the rate of 10 amps as shown on the gauge is high? Of course I dont know how accurate the gauge is. With headlamps on etc is is just on the charge side of zero so its holding ...

Re: Gearbox woes..
Thanks Gene, already been in touch with Peter and ordered a 5 speed. The hard part is waiting the 4 weeks delivery with all this lovely weather that's with us at the moment. I've done some tidying up while its stripped and fitted a heatshield so its been worthwhile. Not sure I'd go the interior rout...

Re: Gearbox woes..
Thanks Tom, I want to be able to do some long runs so am going the 5 sp route as that way it will sort 2 issues out at once (hopefully!) I've stripped the interior out as wanted to tidy that up while I was at it. I have one query.. is it a good idea to use something between the floorboards and the s...

Re: Gearbox woes..
I'd guess its 3rd and 4th sliding hub that's somehow shed the balls and springs. I dont intend driving it at all until it's fixed. I have no way of knowing what the precious owner has done. Im in two minds whether to fix the original box or put the money into a 5 speed. I was already thinking of it ...

Gearbox woes..
My TC gearbox works fine, bit snicky going into 3rd and sometimes jumps out of 3rd on overrun, otherwise ok. Dropped out the oil today and with the oil came 4 ball bearings of about 5/16 and 2 springs!. So is this something that can be done with the box in situ, box out or maybe I should consider a ...

I’d be interested if you manage to get a reply out of Roger. I sent 2 e mails plus left a phone message saying I wanted to order some parts from him and never heard a thing back. I hope he’s ok.

My car is too quiet!
My TC is fitted with a SS exhaust system by the previous owner so I dont know its origins. But it's too quiet, I'd rather like it sounding a little more like a sports car. It has a single muffler/silencer like usual but I wonder if there are some options?

Re: TC front hub query
Well you may have been right Eric, in the end I fitted a new hub, spacer, and both bearings. The bearings were a good fit on the spindle so it really didn't leave anything else. Play now gone so job done. Thanks. Oh and one tip.. I marked the end of the spindle with a marker pen to show where the sp...

Re: Brake query..
I know, old habits die hard. I still carry some tools and spares in the hope that I won't need them. Its perfectly possible to build reliability into old cars, some preventative maintenance is essential, even if its just a good look and spanner check every so often. We have all become used to just j...

Re: Brake query..
Well short run but seems ok, brakes definitely feel like they are working now and rears no hotter than the fronts. Strange that just one half of a cylinder not working would make so much difference. Only fly in the ointment was coming to a halt half way up a local hill, seemed to be suffering from a...

Re: Brake query..
Checking cylinders and they look new and correct front to rear but found one side of the o/s/f seized . The car wasnt used for over a year. Not sure if that being seized is enough to cause the rears to work so hard? But unseized and cleaned up and refitted, I'll see if it now decides to leak. When I...

Re: Brake query..
Hi, pedal if anything feels too hard, very little travel.
I’ll pull the front drums tomorrow and make sure all the pistons are moving.. Not sure what else to check.
