Hello Group, This is a follow up to an earlier post in which I requested assistance on installing pistons in this TD block.That job is happily done.This engine is .060 in..oversize at the bores but was rebuilt not too long ago.however the carbs were very rich which I believe washed down the cylinder...

It always amazes me when a job description is different(e.g.pistons removed from the bottom)from other cars,the workshop manual neglects to tell you how it's done.

Hello Again, I am working on a 54 TF that has a TD engine that smokes blue from the exhaust due to worn rings. Compression is as follows:Cyl.1-100 lbs,Cyl.2-125 lbs,cyl.3-125 lbs.and Cyl.4-125 lbs.Upon a wet test,all cylinders read 150 lbs. I am going to replace the rings,assuming cylinders are ok. ...

well,I removed the gearbox through the passenger compartment,lots of work.I was following recommended r and r as per the TC service manual.
New clutch is in and all is well.

Great replies!!Thank you.Distributor had 8 degrees in dwell variation on acceleration due to worn shaft bush.Plus new condenser was intermittently defective.Fix was a Petronix ignition conversion plus a new coil.I bumped the timing up 10 degrees and car maintains a 90 to 95 temp as long as it doesn'...

With timing light,notch in crank pulley is aligned with pointer @ idle.Is this correct?Have manual but there are no specs for dynamic timing.
