Re: MG TC Radiator Shell

If you haven't found a TC shell, get a good TD unit. Only the eagle eyed critic will spot the only difference. That being that the TD shell has a closure at the base of the crank hole. It is a better and stronger shell in that respect. All other features are identical to the TC. Fitment is the same ...

Re: Looking For Sherwood Parker

Lou, I don't know how often he's checking in here, but he's got a set up on eBay right now if you're looking to buy. Or you can click on "contact seller" and get in touch that way as well. I just saw him a couple weeks ago.

Re: Bonnet (hood) Fitting

I believe I've read a similar issue in the past and one item of mention was that the bottom Radiator support bar can be mounted wrong way round and satisfied that chaps problems. Might be worth a look.

Re: Radiator Cowls (and Grills) that are interchangeable

Ditto on jeffnewey's comment, They are 100% interchangeable. The TD version just added a bridge across the lower portion of the crank hole because the TC versions were prone to flexing and developing a crack in that area.

If you have a shop nearby that does generators, alternators and starter motors, Take it to them, they can probably test it, Brown and Gammons may be a place you can send it as well.

Re: early XPAG oil-pump wanted

Hi Marv, I am still searching for a proper TC oil pump body, in fact 2 would be good. If you still have them may I ask how much you wish for them and what you reckon the shipping would cost? If you wish to contact me offline please send me a separate direct email so we can discuss. kind regards Chri...

Re: more on rear leaf springs.

Oh, I dunno', …. but repelling/displacing water and dirt from betwixt the leaves seems not a bad thing to have happen. Lots of thoughts positive from a number of owners on that side of the coin too I'd bet. Grease is an attractor and retention element for dirt and grime. But, in the grand scheme of ...

Re: Pinion diff bearing #18

Have you tried Moss Europe, it's Moss #125-000 listed at $72.00 also used in the midget, Sprite and Austin Healey alternators. Should be in stock but if not, I'm sure Doug at FTFU has them and he ships across the puddle..

Re: more on rear leaf springs.

Personally Ray, I'd leave the springs as is. Being that they are a minimum of 70 years old says that they have been "Age" relaxed anyway unless a PO has replaced them along the way. I had my shocks rebuilt and in the process I rebuilt my springs as well. no new leaves, just a freshening up to remove...

Re: more on rear leaf springs.

Sounds iffy at best Ray, you probably should bite the bullet and get a new pin. My best price would be close to $160 U.S. from my supplier. Moss is listing it at $199.99. If you can get it at £135, that's about as good as it's going to get. We often have reasons to question the good intentions and b...

Re: more on rear leaf springs.

Whew, that's good, I was incorrect in my statement on mounting the pin. I believe, although I'm not positive as I've never removed one myself, that that pin unscrews from the frame. No access to allow for a nut and washer on the TC.

Problem solved anyway.

Re: more on rear leaf springs.

That pin is mounted to the frame rail via a through hole with a nut and washer on the inside. Based upon your question I'm guessing it was not removed and the Silentbloc is new. So with the pin O.D. being larger than the Silentbloc I.D. (which is a metal bushing), you have either a Silentbloc that i...

Re: more on rear leaf springs.

Put that end on first, A little grease on the silent bloc, snug it up and rotate the rear eye into position with only the inside shackle plate in place, install outer shackle plate and snug everything up. Unless I've missed something, it sounds like you've got the rear eye and shackle plates in plac...

Re: more on rear leaf springs.

Pictures or more info needed for clarity on your situation. However, taking a guess, a common mistake sometimes is to have the rear shackle plates (item 63) orientated such the rear spring eye is wrong way round. The spring wants to "flatten" making it very difficult to install. The rear spring eye ...

Ahh-hh-h, but he had to redesign them from originals, buy the metal, cut the metal, bend it, drill holes, package and ship. Plus it's stainless steel, no rust. How many will he sell? Probably just recouping his investment with little to show for his time at $42 per set delivered from across the pudd...
