Instrument panel
Before I spray my early TC instrument panel, should it be a matt black or satin black finish? Thank you.

Re: Bottom windscreen brackets
Thanks Chaps.
I think the holes are simply drilled incorrectly for my windscreen frame. I shall try a bit of bending/hammering before resorting to making my own or seeking a different supplier.

Mark

Bottom windscreen brackets
Am I expecting too much? Is this degree of alignment acceptable and do I press on regardless? Or should I seek an alternative supplier of the lower brackets (they are from Moss).
Thank you and regards,
Mark

Re: Breather pipe TC
Thanks Antijam. Yes, it does look like the short length is at the top.
Thank you for the pic, it's useful in other ways - getting a car as a box of bits is occasionally hard work!

Breather pipe TC
Could someone tell me which way up the tappet cover breather pipe goes please?
It measures approximately 4 inches before the first crease, approx 7 inches to the second crease and then a further 7.5 inches. So which is top and which is bottom?
Many thanks.

Thanks Steve. I now think it's from the Wolseley 4/44 XPAW engine.

XPAG side plate
As the breather pipe is the wrong diameter to marry up with the outlet, I assume I have the incorrect engine side plate. Any idea what it's off? Thanks

Manifold studs
Should I be screwing the longer end or the shorter end of the manifold studs into the block? Thank you.

Do people apply any grease to the first motion shaft before inserting it into the clutch or leave it bare?
Thank you.

Ignition switch
The 3-position ignition switch that came with the car looks to be correct, but on the rear of the moulding it states PLC2. All the TC references seem to be PLC6. Before I attempt to restore it, does anyone know if this is the correct item?
Many thanks

Re: Handbrake Cross Shaft on TC
Steve
There's an excellent article by John Libbert describing the rebuilding of the handbrake assembly in the April 2012 issue of Totally T Type 2. The collar you refer to is screwed into the shaft. Simply select the issue from the dropdown box.

Re: Fitting rear axle
Hi Steve
Interesting. Perhaps my springs (not new) have sagged a bit. I've now bolted the axle to the springs and the lower axle casing seam is hard down on the rubber bump stops. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Fitting rear axle
Thanks for the reply Gene. Yes, the axle's sitting on the two rubber strips on the chassis rails. I know in Mike Sherrell's book he says that the rear axle doesn't actually lift off the chassis until you've added the very last pin to the rebuild, or words to that effect, so I'm hoping mine is correc...
