PB620 Whereabouts?

Post by loustaller » Tue May 18, 2021 6:32 am

In the 1990's I bought a 1936 PB that was apart and in storage for decades in Southern California with the intentions of one day restoring it. But as things go I put it into storage and never got the time to do so, so in 2002 I sold it. I bolted it together and sold it to a fellow in Central California where it was put into a barn for a future project, again. About 5 -6 years ago I contacted the buyer with the interest of buying it back but was told by him it wasn't for sale plus the barn caught fire and the car is ok but some of the paint was burned. (I could just imagine!)
I attempted to reach the buyer a year ago or so to find he's number was disconnected. If I recall, when I met him he was fighting prostate cancer so maybe it got the best of him? Anyway, does anyone know the whereabouts of PB 620? I would love to re-purchase the car if it survived the barn fire or at least to know if someone bought the car and is restoring it. Thanks, Lou

Hi Lou, I know a lot of early MG owners in CA. If you can send me the gentleman's name, I may be able to help.

You are referring to Jarl deBoer's PB, which was for sale a few years ago. Try mail08@deboer.net

That's the guy! Tom, do you know if the car was sold? I'll try the email you suggested. Thanks, Lou

I believe Jarl is still a member of the rough riders in the bay area. If the email doesn't work, contact me off-list and I can put you in touch with someone who can connect you.

Tom,
What do you know about the car? When it was for sale was the exposure to a fire disclosed? Do you recall the asking price?
I sent an email and will let you all know what I find out, if I do.

Jarl did offer me the PB and I considered it carefully; it was reasonably priced (which I would rather not reveal, as it's Jarl's price, not mine). Yes, the light fire damage was discussed and clearly shown in pictures; it looked singed, not badly burned. I do not know if it has been sold - it was hard, but I decided I had quite enough projects, between a TA, a TB, two TCs, 3 TD/Cs, a TF1500 and an Arnolt, not to mention two Morgan's and a Porsche 356 SC sunroof coupe...

LOL, but sadly. Tom Lange

I've taken the search off line and will post if we work something out. Thanks to all for their suggestions.
