48 TC 5834

Post by Warmuthb » Mon Sep 27, 2021 6:54 am

I searched the archive but came up short. Anybody know EARLY ( First 10 years) history of
1948 MG TC / 5834 XPAG 6552.
I do have some; as follows:
Bought by me from Manly Ford, Jr. in 2012.
formerly owned by George Shafer, in PA and before that by A.B. Vestal in Pittsburgh, who bought the car in 1958, from a J.R. Labofish in Maryland. Apparently Mr. Labofish ran, or was associated with one
Irvin Levine of Silver Spring, MD. Mr Levine apparently owned Tuxeado Auto Scrappers located in Silver Spring, MD.
I have unproven info that the car originally belonged to an Attorney around Washington, DC

The car was one of the first 100 cars registered with the NEMGTR as car #82. The car was built on June 24, 1948 and amazingly, still retains the original engine.

Thanks for any additional info that may issue forth.

You have already documented about 10x what most people know about their car's provenance! Count your blessings.

Yeah Tom! I know. I truly am blessed in many ways, most of which have nothing to do with cars.

It's just those first 10 years I'd like to find out about. I suppose they are lost to time though.

Keep up your good work with supporting all of us in the hobby! We appreciate you!
