SU H2 and H4 carbs
SU H2 and H4 carbs
I`ve "discovered" that I`ve got a couple of new rebuild kits for SU H4 carbs ( SU part num. CRK 205). However I need a couple of rebuild kits for my H2 ( MGTC) carbs. What components are different between the the types. At present Burlen - The SU people are out of stock of the H2 kits and I don`t really want to open my existing kits until I establish whether they are really any use to me. Advice please.

Re: SU H2 and H4 carbs
Hi ya, The best thing to do for now is to find pictures and diagrams of the 2 carbs to determine and x-ref each the components to see if the AUCnnn are the same. Finding a SU catalogue helps or you can use the Burlen(SU) website to compare. I've just rebuilt my pair of H2 with AUC3478 bodies, but had to source a few parts as they came from a TD and needed converting to TC setup.

Hi,
different the butteflie, and
the main shaft, the H2 butterflie dia is smaler so that the groove in shaft is shorter,
if you fit a H4 shaft in a H2 body you get an air leak.
cheers Carl

Re: SU H2 and H4 carbs
Thank you. Did compare the schematics but had wondered whether the shaft bearings in the H4 would allow me to adapt the H2. Preferred supplier (Burlen who have the rights to SU) are currently out of stock. I`ll just have to be patient. My H4 kit is an obvious duplicate order I`d made when sorting my TF 1 1/2 carbs.
