MG TC 1948 steering column adjustment

Hi All - is it possible to adjust the column up and down there is a nut/bolt on a bracket which looks as it should adjust. I have undone the bolt but cannot raise the column. Any help much appreciated - thanks Bas

Bas. The column can't be adjusted for length but there is a little bit of up/down adjustment at the bracket. You might be able to steal a bit with the position of the wheel on the column splines. If the column is presently fixed in place, I would suggest you loosen the bolts at the steering box so you don't put strain on the column. Of course, remember to tighten them agin when you are done!
