measurements on where to install seat brackets

Post by bimmrr » Tue May 17, 2022 10:27 am

Well, got my seat back done up nicely with the kit from PJM in UK and pleased with the result. Believe I got it about
right based on my recollection of my first TC 7636 and the help from several members with questions on attaching
the vinyl on the seat back. I tried to keep track on the location of the existing screw holes for the chrome seat
back brackets, but in all the fitting, etc I lost those marks. So, does anyone have measurements on where they
should be placed on the seat back corners ? I can guess of course, but if someone has a more exact placement it would
be great.
Thanks,
Mike

They obviously need to line up with the brackets on the rear wheel arches, so the width is determined by the placement of those. The vertical location of the holes is 2" from the top of the wood to the top pair of holes. This is difficult to measure with the upholstery in place. Hopefully these photos will help.

Thank you Steve ! Don't know why I didn't take a picture of the exposed back when I stripped it down as actually an original back in excellent condition so know it was correct. This helps a lot .

Join the club! I have the same dilemma; only as PJM have already trimmed my new seat, the exact vertical location of the brackets is open to negotiation!

(The seat that came with the TC was not only incorrect but looked as if it had been driven over and was really beyond restoration ...so I had a complete new seat made. Not complaining... but it took ages and cost a fortune!).
