Breather pipe TC

Post by Mark Robinson » Mon May 23, 2022 5:43 am

Could someone tell me which way up the tappet cover breather pipe goes please?

It measures approximately 4 inches before the first crease, approx 7 inches to the second crease and then a further 7.5 inches. So which is top and which is bottom?

Many thanks.

I can't measure the pipe at the moment, but this is how it's fitted to my car....

It looks as if the short length before the first bend is at the top.

Thanks Antijam. Yes, it does look like the short length is at the top.

Thank you for the pic, it's useful in other ways - getting a car as a box of bits is occasionally hard work!

It fits whichever way up allows the clamp to the bellhousing fit comfortably.

Here's the breather on a spare engine in my shop. It's easy to take a photo when it's on a stand. The lower bolt isn't in it, but it's in the right position.

In place, it should just barely drop down below the bottom edge of the chassis. Mine was painted white. Left is to front of car.
