Has anyone had first-hand experience in having the crankshaft white metal bearings in their MPJG (or MPJM/ MPJW) engine replaced with shell bearings, in particular the 3 mains?
If so, how successful (or not) has the modification been?
Any information greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Mike.

Mike Crankshaft Rebuilders in Melbourne converted my MPJG motor to shell bearings many years ago (early 1980s). No issues however Crankshaft Rebuilders are no longer in business.

Thanks for that. Was that both the mains and the connecting rods?
Mine runs TC shells of the connecting rods, and they have done 15,000 mile since they were converted in the 1970s by the gentleman who restored her.
My major concern is the 3 mains, which are still white metal.
