TA Tickford UK History

Post by The Classic Workshop » Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:04 pm

I will be visiting the UK in May 2023, and would like to find any early history of my TA Tickford.
MG TA Tickford TA2632. Built on the 5th September 1938 with engine MPJG2881, and fitted with Tickford body #4109, the car remained in the UK until purchased by Dr Richard Palmisano in the early 1960’s whilst studying dentistry (and rowing) in the UK, then bringing the car to Australia.
I have no further clues as to UK registration number or where Richard might have bought the car - yes, it's a near impossible task but I am an eternal optimist.
Thank you in anticipation,

Tony

Another "long shot" you might like to investigate is the Tickford name. Today, Tickford is part of Prodrive in Australia offering high performance upgrades for the Ford Mustang, Ranger and Everest.

Tickford has a long and convoluted history. It would be interesting to see if a Tickford archive has survived all the various changes in ownership that have occurred over the years.

Not much chance of finding anything relating to your car... but stranger things have happened. :)

hi Tony - unluckily for you, there is nothing further known of the past history of TA2632, other than that it was entered onto the T-Register in 1983 (#6557) with owner I. Palmisano, not even registered as a Tickford. There is a list of all the cars converted at Newport Pagnall: I cannot put my hands on my copy, but you could contact Brian Rainbow (brian@brianjrainbow.free-online.co.uk) who is the main go-to man for all things TA.
