Day #12 of LockDown for us here in SA.

Managed to avoid going to the shops so that means more time spent on the MG

Both fenders fitted and just about 100% symmetrical.

This is the dimensions I found on the net. Can anybody verify this on their cars please.

So yesterday I started the dreaded job of gluing the foam to the back wheel arches, which turned out a lot easier than I thought. I cut them just to the right size but once finished there was still some cleaning up to da as you can see in the last piece right at the bottom that i left for this morning.

Question to the forum...
When I follow Doug Pelton's video it would appear he can lift the vinyl once he has laid it down. I have done a test and I rip the foam when I try to lift it and simulate removing a crease. I never see him applying the contact to the vinyl, I tried this as well and the vinyl does not stick to the dried glue on the foam.

I am using the same type of contact glue that you are suppose to apply to both sides, wait till it is "dry" to the feel and then stick them together.

Any suggestion PLEASE.

Do not remember anymore whose car this is but he did a stellar job with his wheel arches.

Need some help here fellow TC owners.

I would like to fit the Door Buffers as I am opening and closing my doors continuously because with the rear fenders now fitted, if the doors go all the way round I can damage the door on the fender.

Question is simple, How are the Door Buffers fitted?

Do I make that same slot in the wood to recess that tab of the buffer?

Do I glue the buffer in or do I use a screw or a nail?

Hi Herman,

The answer to your question is that the wood does need to be cut to allow the rubber to sit flush. It's kind of hard to get a decent photo, but hopefully this one will give you an idea.

I take it it just get a few nails to keep it in place as every other rubber gets nailed to the car.

Funny thing is I did not replace the A Post wood so think it is original and there are no recesses for the rubbers. Lots of nail marks. But there were no buffers when I got the car. Only later found out what the cut outs was for. Almos told the bodyshop to repair the cut outs. Fortunately there was another TC in the shop one day an he took the time to compare. Then phoned me to say they have a purpose.

Been a long time since I have posted anything, but I am back.

Joined the local MG club so I can be inspired the whole time and get some help with my build.

Unfortunately only 1 TC in the club.

Question to the picture. I am now at the stage to fit the inner quarter panels. This is the best pic I have of the panels and can not see any screws. Are they all hidden under the piping? my original wood shows no markings as to old fixings.

Usually seats and tornico covers obscure these parts.

Second question for the day.

Do these rubber items go on top of the floor or under the floor?

If you look closely I have a gap there the gearbox mounting bolt goes that is not covered by the rubber cover.

Any help and info will be appreciated.

What type of fasteners is used, Wood screws or bolts nuts and washers, Size??

The rubber pieces go on top of the floor. The pedal gaiter should have a metal ring that goes on top and is secured with six wood screws. I don't recall the exact size but if you have the metal ring then the holes will tell you which is correct. FTFU's excellent new web site has photos of the parts HERE and HERE. The gearbox cover screws as I recall are similar to the pedal gaiter screws along the bottom. I believe there are 12 of them? Wood screws with flat washers I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. On the toe board I believe they are machine screws with finishing washers. All machine screws are British thread.

Q1) Do you fit piping between the running board and the tub?

Q2) Where are these wedges fitted on the TC? got them with the car and looks like it could be used to level the running boards but I only got 4 and the running boards have 3 tabs each.

The answer to your first question is yes.

I don't know the answer to your second question but I believe the wedges are more likely to be used on a front axle to alter the castor angle (rather than the running boards) ... but I didn't find any on my TC.

Too small to be axle wedges. I'm not sure those are TC parts. Maybe someone else recognizes them.

Do I put piping between the tub and the running boards?

How wo i differentiate between the left hand and rights hand fender stays and headlight stays. I see in the Moss parts list they have different part numbers.

Question came out wrong Where do you put the piping. Where does it start because the front fender is bolted to the running board.

Then when you get to the front. I have 3 hole in the fender and the chassis. Do I have to fit the front splash apron(not sure what the name is but that is what it is called in the Moss Manual) and then use the 2 smaller holes to bolt everything together and the middle bigger hole to bolt the badge bar in position?
