Tc tyre identification

Post by tone » Thu Apr 13, 2023 7:41 am

I have 5 Dunlop 450.19, spare unused remainder need sorting.

out of curiosity I was trying to find the manufacture date but not getting very far
My spare is stamped '4707' as are the two fronts. The two rears stamped '0908'.

The car was first registered in July 1948
do these numbers mean anything or maybe only to the factory?

Don't like the look of 'Blockleys' as they don't look very original to the car, tried to get replacement Dunlops, without success so ?

Thanks

Dunlop stopped making the B5 several years ago, but Ensign purchased the molds and is continuing to make them. They don't have the Dunlop name on the side but are otherwise almost identical.

The first two digits of that four number code are the week of manufacture and the second two the year, so all of those tyres are pretty old. Three of them made in probably November of 2007 and two in March of 2008.
