TC transmission mount fixings

Post by Warmuthb » Mon May 08, 2023 4:32 am

Anybody know anything about the 4 tranny mount bolts/and or screws? Seems I have 4 bolts (2 each side) and the left lower can’t be removed without jacking up the engine/tranny? Is this normal?

Did somebody put the bolt in the wrong direction?

It doesn't matter which way the bolt is, you can still pull it off the mount straight forward. Just leave the bolt in place. I just happen to have a TC in the shop at the moment with gearbox off and the bolt still there. Here's a photo.

Or are you trying to only replace the mounts without removing gearbox? In that case yeah, you probably can't do it without raising the gearbox or cutting the bolt.

Steve:
O.K. That picture helps. Seems a bit wonky but with over 45 years wrenching on MGs, I can understand.
