Electric puller fan on a TC
Has anyone installed an electric puller fan on their TC? If you have would you
share what model (Hayden) and size fan you used? Things are getting ridiculously close
between the supercharger drive belts, cooling fan and the radiator. Maybe it's time to ditch
the engine driven fan.
Thanks,

Re: Electric puller fan on a TC
A couple of the TCMG guys have them installed because of the Shorrock also. I'll see if I can find out what type they used. I'm pretty sure at least one or two other guys have the stock fan installed with a Shorrock so it does work somehow. And back in the day of course they didn't have electric fans.
Re: Electric puller fan on a TC
well good luck fitting a puller fan in the space available!
I have an Eaton supercharger with a stock 4 blade fan. I have fitted a 12" blower fan, can't remember the make,
[don't skimp on a cheap one as its too much hassle to fit in the first place, never mind having to change it again!]
in front of the radiator which can't be seen from outside and with a manual on/off switch works fine in the London traffic jams and general chaos of slow moving traffic.
Incidentally I had a lot of problems with solid 'V' belts shredding until I changed for a toothed 'V' belt, never had a problem in 4 years. I can only assume the small pulley on the nose of the supercharger was too tight a radius for the solid belt

Re: Electric puller fan on a TC
Thanks for the info guys. I had not thought of doing a pusher on the TC. Since a puller is supposed to be more efficient I had only thought of going that way. I did find a fan that should fit. It's a Davies-Craig #0147, 10" slimline reversable pusher/puller. The interesting part is that it's only 55mm thick which should fit. They also have a controller/probe setup to run the fan.
This is turning into a slippery slope. If I go with an electric fan then my little 13 amp C45 dynamo will have to go.
Thanks for the tip about the V belts. The ones I have are solid Gates B47. I've ordered some BX47 notched belts.

Re: Electric puller fan on a TC
I also have an Eaton supercharger on my TC but have fitted a "puller" thermostatically controlled electric fan. I have also fitted a 45 amp (Dynamater) alternator. I crack tested my original four blade fan and found a stress fracture so it was scrap anyway. Depending on whether you have positive or negative earth (I have + earth) will determine which way you wire up the fan. This determines either push or pull. I suggest a separate fuse and possibly a relay.
Re: Electric puller fan on a TC
If you can get a 2+ inch thick fan between the front of the stock sized radiator and the louvres you are a magician.

Re: Electric puller fan on a TC
Duncan, I would mount the fan on the back side of the radiator between it and the snout of the water pump pulley.
This is a puller configuration which is supposed to be more efficient that pushing from the front. The biggest downside to this
is breaking down the radiator shell to mount the fan.

Hello,
Uwe

Re: Electric puller fan on a TC
My solution was TWO compiuter FANS in the upper part of the cooling radiator - that -curiously-is completly free
12 cm PC fan can be pusched on the bar of the radiator and fixed by 3 0r 4 plasic straps-

LED illumination can be useful only to advise that fans is in movement
Air flow in the upper part can be useful for the engine Head and carburators
This is useful when the car was stopped at the traffic light
I have changed also the original metalic FAN - with a PLASTIC 6 Blade FAN - the incrase of CFM is exceptional
