Altette horn
Altette horn
Hi all, the original (or at least very old) Altette horn fitted to 2190 has finally stopped working, except for the odd muffled peep. Rather than buy one of the cheap copies which are easily available I’d rather repair the original if possible, but not sure my electrical skills are up to the job.
Does anybody know of a UK based repairer for horns now Taff the Horn has retired?

Re: Altette horn
There's not much to them. You don't really have to be an electrician to restore them, just a patient restorer of dirty and rusty old car parts.
Here is a long discussion on the Jaguar forum of which I am a member, about the Altette, New Alto, Windtone, High Frequency and other Lucas horns.

If it's still making some sound - albeit rather strangled - it will usually just need adjusting. You can access the Lucas adjustment and overhaul instructions here.

Thanks. I’ll try taking apart and see where that takes me…..

Re: Altette horn
on My MG TC the Horn was weak - I have unscrewed a bit all the external screws and now the song is strong
I think that this can be useful also for the note of the horn- I have also one Austin Healey- the same horns in working cond.
