TC Improved Cowl Bracket

In Micheal Sherrell's second book TC Forever More he includes a photo of an improved cowl bracket to add strength to the wood structure in the upper section of the cowl. After considering this I decided to add this to my restoration of TC 6984. I include photos of the original brackets and then the improvement suggested by Sherrell. I made mine out of 1/8' steel plate and I like the improvement. The change is undetectable in the finished car, likely you can only add this when you are doing a full body restoration.

Indeed the bracket is beneficial, particularly if the 3 windshield stanchion machine screws also pass through it.

I had to tap threads into strengthening brackets (that I had added) to take the stanchion screws.

The screws were not long enough to take nuts after passing through the brackets.
