Hi here with the Hardtop on the car
as you see i can use the tenax with the new parts inside the car

with this one tenax the rear side screen secured perfect
have a idea how i can make a junction to the front side screen s
so no rattle when i drive

I took a black pen to make the edge black

today I made the frame for the rear window
first I wanted a laser-cut aluminium part, but the workshop has no time for that
so I used a 2mm aluminium sandwich plate that I used for my heat pump a few weeks ago
It's light and easy to work with and I have a lot of it in my garage
I cut it with my bandsaw and drilled 4 x 40mm holes in it, then cut it with a scroll saw.
10 holes for the screws

It looks great.
I also sewed leatherette with foam so that I now have a sealing lip at the front that closes the gap between the window frame and the hardtop.

have to paint the red part - forgotten ;-)

and
I have to bend the bracket for the B-pillar (I only have one idea how to do this)
if I do it in this position, the hardtop can no longer fold up if, for example, the front bracket does not hold

haven t done nothing the last days
some other work at home ;-)

today wonderful weather so i could take out the car from my garage in the basement
need the garage for some work on my YA

the final worl i can make in my outside garage.

here the first pictures outside in the sun

so happy with the result,
i can t drive the car around the city, no incurance over the winter

also have an idea for the mounting point on the B-pillar

could do it with steel ( snapshot )
but maybe it's easier with the strip from the picture

I could pull both up between the roof bars and the bodywork
both could stay in the car

so fast and easy to istall it after i have put the hardtop on the car
at the star i could fix it
a m16 screw from the outside to the inside and a nut to hold it in place inside

a MG octagon sign outside to make it fine ;-)


but the 2nd solution would be much easier to attach to the attachment point on the b-pillar
steel isn t flexible

what do you think

I received the parts I ordered today
the U-steel and some more

I cut the U-steel as you can see on the pictures
I will use one on the B-pillar and the other on the rear wheel arch
I will make the black band so that the roof has 5 mm free space here
but the road tests will show that

to install the hardtop i have to put the screw through it, simple and fast
you have a better idea

some days i worked on my system change
fhem to homeassistant
now i have some wonderful automations for my home ;-)

i can t drive the car until 01.03.24 so some time left to do the last work

on the right side i have to make sone finish work on the rear side window, only a little bit
done a littel work on it this morning
but i had a lot of wood in the garden to be cut for my fire
and the sun came out, so i went to my garden

i have made some pictures how the rear side window is build
and you will get some more, so you could do it too

also o have to make the fixing point on the b pillar
i have all parts i need
so only time i need

a few pictures for you today
yesterday I made the right rear side window
this little part was the most time-consuming thing I had to do for my hardtop
it took me three hours just to make the last leatherette part

first I had to open the front aluminium profile to be able to insert the window
then I removed the aluminium sandwich part
put the leatherette under the front
fixed it with two screws
then I folded back the leatherette
now you can't see the screws anymore
then I put the leatherette on top under the sandwich and fixed it with a screw at the back
the only screw you can see now
at the end I used a needle and a thread to close the rest

beautiful weather in the afternoon, so i could open the door from my garage
it makes the work much more fun

I made a new lower bracket for the straps

everything is working perfectly today
welding the lower bracket,
made a few holes
made a thread for the screw that holds the part from the wheel arch

when i took the rear wheel off the body did what i thought it would do
the hardtop went up about 5 mm
the rear side window follows the hardtop the bottom holder isn t closed
like this it is ok , the window is fixed with two tenax

then i installed the upper bracket with a 5mm clearance

I still have to think about what to do with the screw that you can see from the outside
should I polish it
should I paint it black
or
should I make a mg octagon


next days i have to make the parts for the right side
have to paint the steel parts
install the right side
clean up the car and some more

two problems
one solution for the moment
I had forgotten that the rear luggage rack is still to come
the lower edge of the hardtop has a border
and this is wider than the hardtop
so I had to make a spacer for the luggage rack
now it fits perfectly

so that I can remove the fabric roof I used press studs
the back is ok but I had to remove 3 on each side
I have an idea how to do it

all the chrome parts i had polished, now it looks great

su much people looking here, just 5 min ago it was less 444440
now i missed the Schnapszahl
unbelievable
i don't know how the pages are counted but since the beginning of the year ...
now almost 4444444 counts,
I can hardly wait to drive the car again
i hope everything works out with the roof as before

Hello my friends
for this year we have planned some meetings with the car.
but now we don't know if we can do it
it's not the car
it's my mother-in-law who is almost 98 years old and is now with us
before she was living alone !!!!!

she has something that you should never use
a hot water bottle full of boiling hot water
please dispose of all these dangerous items and use an electric heating pad
she had the same misfortune as so many others
the boiling water ended up in her shoe
now she has a 10x10 cm 3 degree burn on her foot
really bad
she is a bit lucky because she now lives with a doctor who knows about it
that makes it a bit more difficult to use the car as I could from Friday on.
the reason why no pictures in the last few days,
I could show you others, but I'd better not
let's make the best of it
and you throw these cursed parts in the bin
please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful day,
one of the first days of sun and warm
perfect
a day to ride my TA
at first I only wanted to drive round the block once
but the car runs perfectly with the hardtop
no problems
i drove over humps where the body twisted but the roof went up only a few mm 3-4 as expected without the retaining straps having to go into action
I drove without side windows at 80 km/h and everything was safe
so proud

It was fun, from the first step to the first ride today
In the beginning it was just an idea
I have never done this before
I had a plan in my head and only the two pictures of the black TC
but as so often in my life I said to myself
there is no such thing as can't
it's worth a try
it turned out better than I had hoped for
when I drive over a hole in the road it still makes some noise
it just hits hard at the back
I'm going to try it with some felt, if that doesn't work I'll use a modern foam
I'll think of something.
I saw so many thumbs up on the ride today
great feeling
