Handbrake Return Spring Bracket

I found the handbrake return spring bracket "loose" on the handbrake cross shaft on my TC when I was underneath the car a couple of days ago (i.e., no fastener clamping the bracket to the cross shaft and no spring). I am still climbing the learning curve on this new to me TC.

For now, I just have a short bolt installed to make sure I do not lose the bracket while I do some research.

Does anyone have a picture of how it is supposed to be installed, and/or can you redirect me to an appropriate tech article? I seem to remember reading something a day or two ago about setting up the handbrake lever so the bottom of the handbrake lever was vertical?

I do not know where the other end of the return spring attaches to the chassis.

I don't have a good photo handy but maybe this will help you get started? You have the most leverage when the arm is at a 90-degree angle to the cable anchor so when it's all adjusted, the cable should start getting tight right about there.

That's interesting. My '37 TA definitely does not have such a spring, nor the brackets to hook one to. The only spring return is those on the brake shoes.
The tentative explanation must be that this innovation was introduced some time later than '37.
