Gas tank dipper stick

Post by Peter K. » Mon Mar 10, 2025 9:16 am

Hi Whitworth heads !

Yes, it’s been a long time. I’m proud to finally report that TC#5168 absolutely loves New Zealand! I was there last month and drove it harder than any of the 10k miles here in the US. Never was able to find its mountain goat qualities here. Shod with Blockley tires with Alfin drums made it a flexible flyer!

Getting it registered though with Datsun steering was a PIA. But now anybody can do it there.

Anyway, first ask for the new owner is how to mark a new dip stick for the tank. My stick got lost, he simply wants to make his own.

Later on we’d like advise about the speedo drive. It indicates way too low because I installed a 5 speed by Ford. But the original box went to NZ too, as did the original steering column with Thompkins kit, etc. etc.

Tried attaching a photo, didn’t work, so next time.

Cheers, Peter K. Pleitner
