ENGINE REBUILDS

Post by Justin the brit » Thu Jan 14, 2016 4:57 pm

ok so i am debating a rebuild on my TA engine,

I have the block, head, crank, cam, intake Carbs and exhaust Manifold,

I am missing the rods, pistons, timing gears and oil system,

looks like MGBits can sell me oversize pistons, and rings,

Bill Davis shows a nice picture of a aftermarket rod, i am assuming with standard big end bearings, but no source,

if i go that route can i avoid the white metal bearings, and use typical shell bearings?

i am thinking its 3-400 US to machine the block, and 3-400 to machine the head, and 300-400 to machine the crank,

What i am wondering is if any one has a US source for the gaskets, timing gears and chain, and rods and pistons

any input would be great, it seams a shame to dump all this for an XPAG when its 80% there?

thanks Justin

Try MG Octagon club for the timing gears and chain. They are listed in the current price list.
www.mgoctagoncarclub.com/

Download the price list and you will see on page 7 the following...

SBE076A Crankshaft timing chain sprocket - MPJG £122.62

SBE076C Cam gear timing chain sprocket - MPJG £159.92

The chain is also listed.

You might try Barry Walker for pistons and rods and oil parts. http://www.barrywalker.com/

Good luck
Mike

Also check eBay - I saw that Martin at Abingdon Spares recently listed a set of TA rods. I would contact him directly.

so Martin was able to help me out with the pistons and rods, and the oil pump assembly,

can anyone recommend a shop to remetal the rods and machine the crank and block to match?

I am assuming the machining, and the remetal work have to be done together so they match correct?
