Shock absorber problem
Shock absorber problem
Can someone suggest a repairer (or repair) for Lumax shockers? One has ceased working on rear of car (oil level fine).
Thanks,

Depends where you are. If in the UK Stevson overhauled and repaired all four of my Girlings last year (he does Luvax as well). Not particularly cheap at £700 and his paint job is a bit rubbish, but they work fine.

If in the US. Send them to Worldwide Auto, Madison, Wisconsin. Not cheap either but his work is first class.

In the Western US, contact me for a rebuild source. Back east, Worldwide does great work.
Re: Shock absorber problem
Thanks for your responses. I'm UK so I'll give Stevson Motors a try, thanks antijam. I have drained the faulty one, removed the endcaps and now the pistons move freely, but re-assemble and fill up and no resistance. So it looks like a job for the experts and another hole in the pension!

I can also recommend Raj. Rebuilt four Luvox dampers and replaced rubbers and pins for under £300 about two years ago. Taking two more Luvax dampers to him tomorrow. He rebuilds for Moss and NTG.
Cheers

Re: Shock absorber problem
Dropped off Luvax dampers to Raj in Leicester today. Will take approx 3 weeks and cost £65 to rebuild each damper and £20 for each link bush. A total of £210
Checked when my last ones were done and it's almost 5 years and the car is still not finished. Time flies when you're enjoying yourself !
