MGB Fan
I've seen discussion about people installing the 7 blade plastic MGB fan on their MGTC's. I was wondering if this is just a bolt on installation or if some modifications need to be made to use this fan?

I made bushings from some plastic 'Mollies',which are used to retain screws in wallboard. Thet were needed to remove the clearance between the bolt holes and the 5mm dia. Bolts.
XPAG runs 5 degrees C. Cooler with the safety yellow plastic fan. I was able to knock off another 5C. By switching to 'Real-Gas', which is available nearby. Static timing is set to the mark a TDC.-Rocketsled.

I'm using a 10 year old iPad because my laptop is sick, so
I can 't send any pictures, but I'm in Wakefield, N.H. And currently have a TC and a TD. I have owned MG's for 50 years, more than 100 of them and have restored a few.

Rocketsled's TC is pictured when you do a database search (TC7794) on the database from ttypes.org
edit: oops that's Robert's 7794 in the picture. Nice steering wheel.
Rocketsled's TC8777 not listed at the database that can be found at ttypes.org, but is elsewhere.
There are 2 seven blade plastic MGB fans. Earlier and later B's. The later ones will bolt on, and the earlier ones need some minor bushing, as Rocketsled mentioned above. Or something like that..

Actually, that is not the Rocketsled. I own TC 8777.

I have modified the MGB 6-bladed metal fan (1968 thru early 1973) to fit the T-Series water pump pulley. It requires some machining skills or access to machining sources. It is neither complicated nor expensive. Does not invade the open space between the fan and radiator core any more than the original hokey two blade units did. Looks good and arguably gives 33% more air flow than the original fan ass'y. It does not flex as I've read some plastic fan adaptations have and have caused resulting damage to the rad. It doesn't require a shorter Morris fan hub pulley to regain the lost space between the fan and rad core. In my opinion, the later plastic fan does not belong on a TC any more than a Weber carb setup does! It doesn't look right and can cause problems from what I've read on other blogs. But hey, your car, your choice. my car, my choice! For any of you who may be interested, I can provide modification details.
