Hello, I want to buy an TC
I found a rolling restauration project.
It s a 1945 vin number Tc0281
I found that it could be a ex- police car ??
What is it worth, more than an other TC ?
Who can help me ?

If you look on this website in the "resources" section and click on "police cars" you will see TC0281 is listed.

The police version had a larger bulge in side bonnet for a larger dynamo, and different bulkhead boxes arrangement.

ID search shows that car last known in Belgium.

TC0281 was purchased by Oxford City Police and had the original registration JJO 722.

It appears to be only the second TC to be bought by the Police, the only earlier one is TC0280 JJO 721 so well worth restoring.

Not all of the TC police cars had the modifications Duncan listed - some were fairly stock.
TC0281 is largely unknown to me, and I try to keep track! My advice is grab it now!

The police cars had a larger dynamo, which accounts for the larger bulge, and the different bulkhead box arrangement was for two way radio gear. Apparently the bigger dynamo's and radio's were all removed by Lucas service people prior to being offered for sale to public. The car is listed in the ttypes.org T-database as being running and in Belgium, a black car with red interior here:

TC's were also stamped (TC 0281) on the outside passenger side chassis extension or "dumb iron" which is at the front of side chassis. Other than the chassis plate it is the only other place where the chassis No is stamped.
Some of these police cars have recently sold at a premium, so you should have it looked at by someone familiar with the early TC's. Even if it is an original police version car, many were repaired or restored using standard TC parts many years ago.

I have bought TC0281yesterday and it is already in my garage .
If somebody can help me with photos, I know there are some pictures of the car , first license plate JJO 722 .
A police car in Oxford .
All information is welcome.
It is ban early car, are there many of thes early cars known ?
Are there differences with " younger car so" ?

You need to buy 'MGs On Patrol' by Andrea Green, apart from a lot of info on MG Police cars it has a picture of your car on page 75!

The only difference on my TA is that the rotary switches for spot light and panel lights are replaced by pull switches, presumably easier to operate while wearing gloves.

Standard colour was black with blue interior. The front police sign on my car was originally in front of the grill but later moved to the top of the windscreen, to make it more visible.
