Bonnet fitting

Good day.I am in the stages of fitting guards and bonnets back on my TC after having tub and doors painted.
Just wondering is there a correct method of re attaching bonnets to hinge ends?
At the moment they are sitting on car but how do you screw fittings without lifting or opening to do screws up.
Do you lift up one side and do the other side after.
My bonnets seem to fit ok but front bottom corner of one justs sits over grill .
I tried once before to adjust when radiator was removed but made little difference but both sides reasonably neat at the rear.
At the moment not too concerned as really want my car back on the road aftet 6 months having body painted and distributor rebuilt.
