The best workshop manual I know of for TA is the Bentley Workshop Manual. It contains factory info covering all technical aspects of pre-war through TF. There should also be good TA content in "Original T-Series" by Anders Clausager, and possibly in "The T Series Handbook" put out by NEMGTR.

The Bentley may be the same, but I find the Blower manual to be the most useful for pre-war cars. Also, go through Totally T-Type 2 back issues (all on-line), and make note of TA-specific articles. Things like TC-steering articles will be of great use as the TC is basically the same as TA, except for small differences.

You're correct, Bentley and Blower are the same thing. I believe Bentley is simply the newer owners of the book.

I bought this book, is it the one you were referencing? it seems a bit light on TA info.

Hi Rod, it really depends on where your thirst for knowledge is needed; a copy of the TA Manual (sold by the Octagon CC here in UK) will give you all what MG wrote about the TA; TA parts manual will also clarify what parts where fitted (and description) to the TA. There's little about the TA engine which is different to the TB and TC being XPAG. So if your after body reference and general but excellent reference to how a T-type goes together then you cant go wrong with Mike Sherrills 'TC's Forever' ... not cheap but an absolute bible, also supplemented by his latest green version too.
So depends on how original your TA may be and how and what you wish to do with the 'originality', restore, replace, leave and or modify. Perhaps reading more about a TA will actually help decide which way you'll then go too.

Guy's, Thanks for the responses, they are much appreciated. So far I have got 2 books, I'm not sure if the Bently book (the black one) is the same one recommended by Steve?

Rod,
In addition to those books Chris and others have listed I’d suggest a copy of ‘Tuning and Maintenance of M.G.s’ by Philip H. Smith.
And yes, most books you find are indeed going to be “a bit light on TA info.”
Good luck and happy reading.
