Thanks for the encouraging words Steve - the top is always down at the moment - down in the cellar. I have to paint and fit the hood frame, then the difficult bit with the fabric. We would have put the hood up if we had had that option. But just going home wasn't an option.

Reasons for not using the hood, top, roof or whatever you want to call it.

Its spoils the lines of the car
It makes it more difficult to get in and out
It's claustrophobic inside
Visibility is restricted.
Tops are for wimps.

Topless since 1982 apart from one day.

Absolutely correct. I ran topless from 1990 to today, bought a hood about 4 years ago but never quite got round to....you know how it is. problem is that my wife (unlike her predecessor) always wants to come with me, so it may happen one day soon.
I have memories of wet days in summer '89 noticing that the rain which came in between the hood rail and windscreen seemed to fly into my face at higher speed than I was driving. And claustrophobia. And the vile smell of oil burning off something hot. But the lovely lady (wife not car) has other attractions that lead me to compromise. The joys of getting old.

richard - in england for June without TC and also without wife, who is at home enjoying the TC without me. She once got asked if her husband allowed her to drive it!
