Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
here are some pictures from my new dashbord
first from the new sockets , krimped and soldered
as you see i have two sockets for the direction lights behind the dash, here still with lamps. I will take them off later, so it is possible to check fast when something doesn t work.

and here from inside the car
look how bright the control lamp for direction light is,
if light is off it looks like the original switch, but in use it is really bright so i will not forget to switch it off
i started the car this evening and it runs wiht first try
still have a little problem with the choke, have to pull harder then before
perhaps i will change to the old choke cable, with this cable i can block it in several positins
most work done now, much faster then i thought
no additional switch on the dashboard
control light for beamlight in blue, hazzard warning light in red and direction light in green
so all what i need here in Germany
and all so bright that i will not forget to switch it off
perhaps i will install a remote switch controlled battery cut off

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
one horn was damaged, which I had written a few days ago
I ordered a capacitor
received it today
the horn works now again
first I used my transformer and not the battery
with this tool the horn gives only one loud, I cleaned the contacts
all around
after that nothing worked
then I took a battery and the horn screams loudly
must adjust the screws so that the sound is a little better than now
Do you know how to adjust screw 1 and 2?
I know, not exactly how it works,
screw 1 is for the contact and when the horn is off it should be just closed
Screw 2 is for the tone, and sets the stroke height, high stroke height = high tone???
also I made some changes to the choke and everything works fine now
the car runs with the first pull,
i think the choke was a bit stiff because after a few months there was no gas left in the carburetor
2 weeks and I can drive the car again
will ask a friend with a car lift to renew the brake lines
now i will make a board for the tools in the underground, hammer, jack, pump and grease gun
have to make some changes to original because the pull cable for the starter is going throug this compartment, but i will find a fine solution

on the table the horn runs perfectly
but after i installed it on the car it doesn't scream anymore
as i tested it is the positive ground that is not good enough
will do it later, the other horn is ok
then I installed the tools in the tool box.
the jack is not the original one but a double one so i can lift it higher and i got it 2 years ago for 30 pounds with shipping
i did not want to pay for the original one
so I had to make some changes to the position
but this way it is ok for me
now i still have to make the handle for the jack, a folded one like the original but i will make it myself
as you can see on the second picture the starter cable goes through the toolbox
Also I don't want to make new holes for the tools so I'll take a wooden plate to fix everything, will paint it still later ( in summer when it's warm and I should be bored of sound )
don t know why, but the starter handle i got with the car is about 3 cm to short
will take it for the YA and make me a new one, should be not too difficult

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
there was one part missing in the toolbox
and really expensive
so i made my own today., tooks me 5 hours for all
and the best
it works perfect as it should work under the car
was a little bit afraid if it is strong enough
all parts found in the cellar
1m 12mm round steel
an old tube, a little bit larger, so i cut it and weld it together
and 2 screws for the junktion
as you see you can fold it like original
I'm thinking about taking some faux leather to line the bottom compartment, but then in black you can barely see anything, let's see if I have gray faux leather

and now it's ready for me,
took something and now it's ready for me,
I took some gray leatherette.
i could not take a continuous piece of wood so it looks terrible without the faux leather
also i can take out the dirt like this much better

the starting handle was a little too short
Why?
made a new one today, cost me 8 euros
2 weeks ago I ordered non polarity sensitive reverse LEDs
but something went wrong and I got my money back
so I had to order some in England, cost me 35 Euro because tax and shipping are so expensive
doesn't matter
yesterday they arrived and i installed them today
works perfectly
will make a picture the next few days

wanted to turn a round today in the beautiful weather
starts great, electrics also works everything
but I can not engage a gear, the clutch does not separate
when stationary I then tried to start with gear engaged in the hope that it then releases
but it does not
what to do else

step forward
the clutch works as it should work now
i made a mistake with the choke when i assemble it
was to short so the jet was not correct
now this is ok
drove the car about 1 km without any real problem
but i still have a little problem with the front carburettor
the fork is not perfect in the moment
the fuel is to low when the fuel pump runs
will make it next weekend

only 24 spokes
more was not possible to make a laser cut
but i think it is ok like this
have to think about how to make the light behind
order will take 2-3 weeks so some time

Franz-
It is like one of those image puzzles. Some will see 24 spokes, but where others see one spoke, I see two spokes. One on each side.

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
i will get the stainless steel plate on Tuesday
last weekend i drove the YA first time a long distance over 120 km without any problems
up anmd down 16%
was a lot of fun
next day the starter doesn t work
one cable of the carbon bush was damaged
found this aber i thought that it is a different problem
if someone has the same problem with the starter the rebuild is here
it is the same starter as the TA, so perhaps interesting:

now working again
