MG T-ABC

This is an old topic, but I don't remember whether this siting has been noted: About 5 minutes into "The Lavender Hill Mob" there is a brief shot from the rear of the gold van Alec Guiness is riding showing a TC following (perhaps it's and A or B). Dick Warren

Is there any way to search old Ministry of Transport records for the license number KKE976?

Not able to view well enough under the front axle to determine whether there were trunnions as would be under the TB, but if that area could be seen, then would make a definite model choice.
The main clue to indicate the possibility that this was a TC was the apparent width of the cockpit area that overlapped the rear fenders, but not definitely enough for proof. An early TC, with the deep cut outs of the front wings, and the big flat lensed headlamps would be virtually indistinguishable to other outside appearances of the TB.

The movie was released in 1951 and by that time could have quite a good selection of all black early MGTC's for that scene.

The list confirms that the Lavender Hill Mob scene was a TC.
Perhaps there was a TA TB or TC in the movie "Sink the Bismarck" that is not listed by IMBD. The movie was released in 1960 in black and white, and I saw it on TV in the 70's or 80's.
The scene with the car depicted one of the characters coming up from underground quarters and driving off through London in a TA TB or TC that produced lots of exhaust smoke!

Wonder if anyone else remembers this?

While I do suspect it's a TC, IMCDB isn't always right. They usually rely on user data to identify cars. I've sent in a few corrections myself. Like you, I was looking at body width and it does appear to be wide, so I also assumed TC. Not enough detail to tell by other means. It does appear to be center-laced wheels, so that also rules out TA unless the wheels were changed (which is possible). I would guess early TC due to the driving lamp and body width.

Can anyone make a certain date?

I looked it up and did the best I could in Photoshop. Hard to tell anything definitive but it looks like early front wings so that would make it TA-early TC.
