I just got a package of parts from the UK, so I'm moving forward on TC9849's restoration. This week is focusing on the front axle. I'm also doing a front suspension rebuild on the Healey.

I'm going to re-commission a TC that was last on the road in the 70's, do brake lines on a TD, and install a blower on another TC. Except I can't drive them!

I'm just trying to work my way out of my winter desk jobs before starting on my total restoration again. This is where I got to at the end of last year. The four quarters and the doors are on, all finished in 2K primer so are stable until I'm ready to paint properly. My plan is to do some work on the scuttle to finish the body tub and then start on the engine rebuild.

Is the chrome trim around the outside a standard part? If so it is missing from my car .............. just the latest item I have discovered missing

The dashboard chrome (trim/ rim/ bead) around the outside edges is standard original on all TC's.
The bottom trim/ rim/ bead is a separate piece from the top rim piece -- and the corners of the 2 rims must match very closely where they meet.
The bottom trim/ rim/ bead is fastened with oval head slotted shiny screws that are small and countersunk.
The top trim/ rim/ bead is fastened with small brass round headed nails (brads?) so they do not protrude into the packing.
-- All these parts are available from Doug Pelton.
The dashboard should fit tightly into the scuttle, but watch that the dashboard will still fit inside the scuttle with the top trim/ rim/ bead on. Do a trial fit before putting on the top trim/ rim/ bead and file or sand the edge of the dashboard to match with a small space for the chrome.
(The bottom is not as critical a fit as the top.)
