Test fit of bonnet

I am planning to test fit the bonnet during my TC rebuild and have a quick question. The rubber strip that the bonnet sits on next to the scuttle - does this strip just push up tight against the scuttle or does the notch mean it should actually sit on top at the rear? Any close-up pictures would be much appreciated. Thanks. Tim.

The round high part of the strip sits up on the metal part of the scuttle while the flat part of the strip is nailed to the timber. Keep in mind that some adjustment either way can be made so that the edge of the bonnet sits adjacent to the round high spot for a nice neat look all along that rear edge.

Does this help?

This thread may be of some help. When fitting mine I initially found it impossible to get a proper alignment of the bonnet side hinge with the cowl edge on the body. It turned out that the rubber section (obtained from Moss) was too thick. Fitting a thinner section from Brown & Gammons sorted the problem.

Mike Sherrell's TCFE has a description and drawing on 'fiiting the bonnet' on pg 188

Thanks everyone. I have the TCFE and looked at the description but just wanted to be sure.
