Fitting Hood (Convertible top) to TC
I am in the process of re-fitting the hood to my TC, after having it removed for a small repair. When the hood was installed, a new wood top rail (over the windscreen) was installed. I noticed that the front of the hood stood proud of the sidescreens an appreciable amount.
My question is: Is there any unanticipated consequence of trimming the ends of the wooden header to bring the hood closer to the windscreen?
Any help from those who've been down this path before would be appreciated.

I also fitted a new wooden bow to my car when installing a new hood and found that said bow was a bit wider than it really needed to be. This made it difficult to get a decent fit of the hood along the front tops of the side curtains so I did trim it a bit to improve the fit up.

Thanks Steve, and hey! your car looks good, particularly the very neat fit of the hood.

Thanks Rick, I spent about a week fitting the hood and curtains and typically it will need to be restretched as they tend to relax a bit after awhile.

Hello Steve, Is that a tailor made hood on your car or did you buy a ready made hood and side curtains?

Max, actually the hood, curtains, tonneau, and entire interior are Moss products. They are all of nice quality and fit well as long as you understand that they are made to fit the original specs. You must do careful measuring to make sure things like windshield position, top frame mounting, and such have not changed over the years. A good installation may require slight movement of the any of the above depending upon originality of the tub and frame. The key is to make sure the curtains overlap properly, follow the windshield line and fit under the side flaps of the top. I do not work for Moss by the way.
